Lincoln Riley’s new-look USC team faces its first test of the season as they open Pac-12 play against Stanford. The Cardinals haven’t been the toughest test in recent seasons, but if USC’s revamped roster performs as expected, the Trojans should pass with flying colors.

Washington State at #19 Wisconsin

On one end of the field: Wisconsin’s stout defense and more corn-fed linemen than you can wave a bag of Culver’s cheese curds at. On the other end: New Cougars quarterback Cameron Ward, who had a bananas 4,648 passing yards and 47 touchdowns last season at the University of the Incarnate Word. (Our advice? Take the over.)

Louisville at UCF

Look no further than this game if you’re the type of college football connoisseur/degenerate who enjoys rushing quarterbacks and funky offenses.

Louisville quarterback Malik Cunningham (2,941 passing yards, 1,031 rushing yards, and 49 total touchdowns last season) faces off against UCF’s John Rhys Plumlee, head coach Gus Malzahn’s latest Swiss Army Knife quarter/halfback. During Plumlee’s freshman season at Ole Miss, he had a Malzahn-ian stat line with 910 passing yards, 4 passing touchdowns, 1,023 rushing yards, and 12 rushing touchdowns.
