Hallmark Channel is a must-have addition to your entertainment suite if you love emotionally driven, family-friendly fare. The name alone is synonymous with wholesome TV viewing.

Its roster is loaded with feel-good flicks that focus on romance and self-reflection—and sometimes awkward mishaps in between—while always driving toward a happy ending.

There are multiple ways you can watch Hallmark Channel content: Through its dedicated streaming service, Hallmark Movies Now, through a live TV streaming service, or through a traditional cable or satellite plan.

Your cheapest option will be Hallmark Movies Now, which is intended for people who just want access to Hallmark’s enormous catalogue of original movies.

The Good Witch (Hallmark Channel)
The Good Witch, one of Hallmark Channel's biggest hits.

If you want to watch the live Hallmark Channel itself, there are also cheap live TV streaming options like Frndly TV, Philo, and Sling TV. Pricier TV services that carry Hallmark Channel include YouTube TV, Hulu + Live TV, fuboTV, and DISH Network, but you’ll also get a more comprehensive channel lineup.

We’ve rounded up our recommendations based on price, add-on channels, and overall experience.

The best ways to get Hallmark Channel

Hulu + Live TV

Best streaming bundle
Price:
$76.99–$89.99/mo.
Channel count:
95+
Cloud DVR storage:
Unlimited (9 mos.)

Hulu + Live TV is a great cable alternative if you want to get Hallmark Channel through a streaming service. In addition to 85+ live channels, which includes Hallmark Channel, Hallmark Movies & Mystery, Lifetime Channel, and Lifetime Movie Network, you’ll also get access to ESPN+, Disney+, and all of Hulu‘s on-demand library.

Hulu + Live TV doesn’t come with Hallmark Drama right out of the box, but you can get it with the ENTERTAINMENT add-on, which will run you $7.99/mo. This brings your total price closer to a traditional TV plan, but you’ll still get all the benefits of live TV streaming.

Frndly TV

Cheapest live TV plan
Price:
$6.99–$10.99/mo.
Channel count:
40+
Cloud DVR storage:
Unlimited (3–9 mos.)

Frndly TV is a small live TV streaming service that carries Hallmark Channel, as well as A&E, Lifetime, HISTORY, The Weather Channel, VICE, and over 20 more channels for as low as $6.99 a month. If you’re looking for just Hallmark Channel and a handful of other networks to stream live, Frndly TV is a great deal.

While it does have the full fleet of Hallmarks (Hallmark Channel, Hallmark Mysteries & Movies, and Hallmark Drama) and other A&E Networks channels, Frndly TV is lacking dozens of popular channels—kind of what you’d expect for $6.99. Most of its 40+ channel lineup is made up of filler channels like BabyFirst, Start TV, and PixL. Also, Frndly TV has zero sports or local channels.

If you want a fuller TV experience on the cheap, we’d recommend Philo (see next). But if Hallmark and Lifetime channels are your priority, it’s hard to beat Frndly TV.

How to watch Hallmark without cable

You can stream Hallmark movies on demand with Hallmark Movies Now, Hallmark’s own streaming service. If you’d rather watch the live channel, your cheapest options are these live TV streaming services:

  • Frndly TV—Cheapest live TV package ($6.99–$10.99/mo., 40+ channels)
  • Philo—Best for lifestyle channels ($25.00/mo.; 70+ channels)
  • Sling TV—Lifestyle Extra add-on ($46.00/mo.; 40+ channels). Pair it with Sling TV’s Blue package for 43 channels—11 more than its Orange plan.

But you might already have access to the Hallmark Channel through other, more comprehensive services, like YouTube TV or Hulu + Live TV.

Philo

Best for lifestyle
Price:
$25.00/mo.
Channel count:
70+
Cloud DVR storage:
Unlimited (1 yr.)

Philo is the cheapest full-lineup live TV streaming service on the market. For only $25 a month, you get 60+ cable channels, including Hallmark Channel.

Choosing this plan not only gives you Hallmark Channel, but also Hallmark Drama and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.

Philo is a great value if lifestyle and entertainment channels make you the happiest. We should also mention that Philo has an unlimited cloud DVR.  Record Hallmark faves to watch whenever you want, year-round.

We absolutely love that it carries popular favorites like OWN and Food Network, but we don’t like that there aren’t any sports channels or local channels available on Philo.

Pro tip: You can always add an inexpensive OTA digital antenna to your TV setup to cover your local news and some nationally televised sports.

Pair Philo with Hallmark Movies Now, and you’ll have the vast majority of Hallmark movies and shows currently available online for around $30 per month.

DISH

Price:
$84.99–$114.99/mo.*
Channel count:
190–290+
DVR storage:
Up to 2,000 hrs.**

If you want a more traditional TV experience, including a super-sized channel lineup and premium features, we recommend DISH satellite TV service. It will cost you a little extra, but it might be worth it to you.

For Hallmark fans, we recommend DISH’s America’s Top 200 package. This package gives you more than 240 channels—including Hallmark Channel, Hallmark Movies & Mystery, Hallmark Drama, as well as Lifetime Channel and Lifetime Movie Network—for $99.99 a month.

What about 25 Days of Christmas?

If you want to watch 25 Days of Christmas, you’ll need Freeform. Philo doesn’t have Freeform, but Sling TV’s Orange plan does. You can also get it with America’s Top 200 from DISH, as well as YouTube TV and Hulu + Live TV.

One of the best things about DISH is the Hopper 3 DVR. For an additional $15 per month, the Hopper 3 allows for 16 simultaneous recordings and 2,000 hours of DVR storage. You’ll have room to record all 40 of this season’s new Hallmark Christmas movies—and plenty more. Now you really can enjoy Christmas in July.

The downsides of DISH are its two-year contract and higher price. While it’s not the most flexible way to watch Hallmark, we think DISH’s channel lineups and excellent DVR are worth the cost if you have the extra moola.

Sling TV

Plan price:
$40.00–$55.00/mo.
Add-on price:
$6.00/mo. Lifestyle Extra
Channel count:
30–45+
Cloud DVR storage:
50 hrs.

Sling TV is another cheap streaming service—not quite as low as Philo—but unfortunately Hallmark isn’t included in any of its base plans. Luckily, adding their Lifestyle Extra plan (which includes Hallmark Channel) is only $6, so it’s not a huge price hike. A lot of Hallmark Channel fans also enjoy Lifetime Channel, and that’s also part of Sling TV’s lineup.

Sling’s Blue and Orange plans are each $40/mo., or you could spend $55/mo. for both of them combined. The Lifestyle Extra pack costs $6/mo. on top of either of those numbers (making your total spend either $46 or $61 per month).

The Lifestyle Extra pack has nine channels, including Hallmark Channel, Hallmark Drama, and another you may enjoy, Lifetime Movie Network. That’s a combination that will give you hours’ worth of tears and fears.

The best ways to stream Hallmark Channel movies

Hallmark Movies Now

Hallmark Movies Now is the least expensive place to stream Hallmark movies on-demand. At $5.99 a month, Hallmark Movies Now features tons of original Hallmark content, including favorite movies from the Hallmark Hall of Fame.

To see which Hallmark movies are currently available on Hallmark Movies Now, test it out with a 7-day free trial.

This is like the Lifetime Movie Club—an extension of the Lifetime channel—a subscription video service that gives you new and classic Lifetime movies, and exclusive premieres, all commercial-free.

Free Hallmark Channel movies

You’ve heard the phrase “Nothing in life is free.” Well, we hate to break it to you, but it holds true for Hallmark Channel movies. The Hallmark Channel does have an app (a.k.a. Hallmark Channel Everywhere) but it does require a TV provider login.

Hallmark Channel on Netflix

Hallmark doesn’t currently have any movies on Netflix. There are only Hallmark-like movies on Netflix, including Netflix Originals like A Christmas Prince and The Princess Switch. A Netflix subscription will currently run you $6.99–$22.99/mo.

Hallmark Channel on Hulu

Hallmark Channel is now available on Hulu + Live TV, and certain Hallmark movies and shows can be streamed on demand as well. A Hulu + Live TV plan with the on-demand Hulu library will cost $76.99–$89.99/mo.

Hulu + Live TV also carries Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, and Hallmark Drama is available as an add-on channel.

Hallmark Channel on Peacock

A lot of Hallmark Channel movies and shows are now streaming on Peacock. A Peacock subscription will cost $5.99–$11.99/mo. or $59.99–$119.99/yr., depending on your plan.

Hallmark Channel on Roku

You can technically watch Hallmark Channel programming on Roku, but you have to subscribe to a TV provider and download the Hallmark Channel Everywhere app—or subscribe to Hallmark Movies Now and download the app—to do so.

What’s the best way to get Hallmark Channel?

There are lots of cost-effective ways to get Hallmark Channel movies, including Hallmark Movies Now ($5.99/mo. or $59.99/yr.) and Frndly TV ($6.99–$10.99/mo.). If you’re looking for something with a bigger channel count and premium features, like unlimited DVR, check out Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV, and DISH.

Whatever your choice, sign up and start binge-watching your warm fuzzies today (even if it’s not technically Christmas).

Hallmark Channel FAQ

Is the Hallmark Channel on Amazon Prime?

Yes, Hallmark Movies Now is available on Amazon Prime Video, although you’ll need to subscribe for an extra $5.99/mo. or $59.99/yr.

How much is the Hallmark Channel app?

Hallmark’s streaming app, Hallmark Movies Now, is $5.99/mo. or $59.99/yr.

What is Hallmark Movies Now?

Hallmark Movies Now is a standalone streaming service app that offers exclusive movies and series from Hallmark Channel, Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, and Hallmark Hall of Fame, along with other content created to tug at the heartstrings.

You can download Hallmark Movies Now and become a subscriber for just $5.99/mo. or $59.99/yr. The channel offers a 7-day free trial, so you can give it a test drive, too.

How many Hallmark movies are there?

There are too many Hallmark movies to count. The company releases new movies almost every month, but the full number is now well over 600.

What is the most popular Hallmark movie?

Everyone seems to like Hallmark movies so much that it’s difficult to narrow down the best one. For example, IMDB’s Top 100 Hallmark movies list the inspirational Front of the Class as number one, while the Christmas movie set during World War II, Silent Night, takes second place.

Are all Hallmark Christmas movies the same?

We can’t lie—formulas make all Christmas Hallmark movies similar, but that’s also what makes them dependable.

In many cases, a woman moves to a new location—or back to her scenic hometown—during the holidays and finds herself immersed in a scenario that blends love, chaos, and confusion. Eventually, holiday magic takes over, and everything falls into place just like the snow that settles in a shaken snow globe. The slightly predictable fun is as comforting as an old wool blanket.

Do the Hallmark Channel and Lifetime Channel show the same movies?

Hallmark Channel is owned by Hallmark Cards, Inc., and Lifetime Channel is a subsidiary of A&E Networks. The similarities in their content tend to make people think the two channels are part of the same family.

Hallmark movies tend to end a little happier than Lifetime movies — leaving you with a smile on your face — sometimes after you’ve reached several times to grab the box of Kleenex. Hallmark has a Movies & Mysteries channel and a Drama channel that lean in the Lifetime direction but are still a little less intense. By intense, we mean creepy.

Lifetime movies tend to have more of a jagged edge than Hallmark movies—instead of leaving you with some hope, you’re left wondering if that creepy stalker might make an appearance in a sequel.
