Cox internet is the only Cox service that we’d recommend as a standalone product, since its cable TV and home phone services are just average. Cox does have solid mobile phone plans, but they can only be bundled with Cox internet.

Cox cable TV and internet offers a handful of deals

Cox internet plans are reasonably priced for the speeds you get

Cox’s starting package, Go Fast, is a solid entry-level internet plan. For $49.99 a month (the average price for internet in the U.S.), Go Fast comes with 100 Mbps download speeds (our recommended internet speed for most folks). Cox’s internet plans go all the way up to 2,000 Mbps, offering a wide variety of internet speeds for any type of internet user.

We’ll say this, though: Competitors like Xfinity and Spectrum offer similar plans that are often cheaper than Cox internet, so sniff around a bit before you commit to Cox.

Cox cable TV plans are pricy

Cox offers three cable TV plans that aren’t great unless you splurge for the Contour TV Ultimate plan, which includes add-ons like Max and Paramount+ with SHOWTIME.

Cox channel lineups look good on paper (250 is a lot of channels), but unfortunately, those numbers are bloated with music and shopping channels. For that reason, along with their sky-high prices, we don’t recommend Cox TV plans.

Cox home phone is an OK add-on

Home phone service isn’t for everyone anymore. But for those who still want the security of a landline, Cox offers an OK home phone package.

For $20 per month (sorry, no bundle discounts for home phone), you can get unlimited calling throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico with Cox’s Voice Preferred plan.

For customers looking to call domestically, it’s not a bad price. But for those who need international service, look elsewhere.

Cox mobile plans are a great option for Cox internet customers

Cox offers two mobile plans: one pay-as-you-go and the other with unlimited data. Cox Mobile uses the Verizon cell network, so these plans offer great nationwide coverage. Plus, both plans offer unlimited talk and text in the United States.

The caveat is that you must have Cox Internet to be eligible to sign up for Cox Mobile. Cox TV customers—if that’s the only Cox service you have—don’t make the cut.

Is Cox Communications worth it?

Cox Internet is the only Cox service we’d recommend on its own, with solid prices and speeds that go up to a whopping 2 Gigs. Add on one of the reasonably priced Cox Mobile plans, and you’ve got yourself a great internet-wireless bundle.

Cox’s other offerings leave something to be desired. Cox cable TV service is too expensive for the channels they offer, and their home phone service is just middle-of-the-road.
