Doctor Strange vs. Other Strange Docs

How would Doctor Strange measure up to other strange pop-culture doctors?

It takes a special kind of person to be a doctor, whether it’s an MD, a PhD, an NBA legend, or a necromancer. But as gifted as these people are, how would they measure up against Doctor Strange, master of the mystical arts? We ponder these things in recognition of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which hits theaters Wednesday, May 4 and Disney+ 45 days later.

Doctor Strange vs. Dr. Jack Kevorkian

Doctor Strange feels strongly that Dr. Kevorkian, master of compassionate euthanasia, is on the wrong side of medical ethics. Since Kevorkian is dead, Strange resurrects him for a spirited debate. Kevorkian, who had a Do Not Resuscitate order, objects to being revived and takes Doctor Strange to court for the right to die again. The case is currently tied up in the Michigan courts.

Doctor Strange vs. Dr. Timothy Leary

Doctor Strange and famed LSD psychonaut Dr. Timothy Leary get their portals crossed, and the entire portal system is thrown temporarily offline. Left on perma-hold by tech support, the docs talk shop. Strange feels that hallucinogenic drugs are an artificial experience, while Dr. Timothy Leary thinks magic is horse feathers.

Strange proposes a cultural exchange—he teaches Leary some tricks, and Leary puts a tab of acid on Strange’s tongue. While Strange is off tripping in a field of his favorite gigantic fancy watches, Leary uses his new magical skills to make more and better psychedelic drugs.

Doctor Strange vs. Dr. Girlfriend vs. Dr. Byron Orpheus

Keep your multiverse—this The Venture BrothersDoctor Strange throuple is a far more interesting prospect. At first, it’s polyamorus bliss. But soon it’s clear that Dr. Girlfriend wields all the power in the relationship, Doctor Strange thinks he’s the alpha partner, and Dr. Orpheus is just a copycat cuck. The melodrama plays out on social media, with Doc Strange posting snarky tweets, Dr. Orpheus making mopey TikToks, and Dr. Girlfriend getting rich on OnlyFans.

Doctor Strange vs. Dr. Gregory House

Faced with a physician as cocky, flawed, and talented as he once was, Strange gets into a toxically masculine rivalry with the very similar Dr. House. Strange calls House a “redun-deus ex machina.” House reads Strange as a “screensaver generator with a security blanket.” Then they kiss. Can’t wait for the wedding episode!

Doctor Strange vs. Dr. J

Doc Strange already knows he’s got game in the operating room and various other dimensions. But he wants to prove his superiority on the Multiverse Community Rec Center basketball court, so he yanks Dr. Julius Erving through a portal for a cosmic 1:1 match. The two go bucket-for-bucket until the score is 10–10. It’s Strange’s ball, and he sinks a half-court shot to win the game—only to be disqualified when it’s revealed he was using the Cloak of Levitation to dunk.
