Miley Cyrus’ Bangerz Tour Coming to NBC: Moments that Might be Too Hot for TV
Miley Cyrus’ Bangerz tour is coming to TV on July 6. NBC is hoping to cash in on Miley mania with a documentary that will focus on Miley’s performances from upcoming concerts in Barcelona and Lisbon. According to The Wrap, the twerktastic special will also feature behind-the-scenes footage and “examine what makes [Cyrus] such a global phenomenon.” The last time a Miley performance was featured on TV, quite a few people freaked out. Miley’s manic twerking, tongue flashing, and faux fake finger fellatio were the talk of the MTV Video Music Awards last year. The Parents Television Council complained that the performance “substituted talent with sex;” Kelly Clarkson threw hashtag shade at Miley by dubbing female VMAs performers “#pitchystrippers;” and the FCC was flooded with complaints. Miley was accused of acting like a hooker, being sexist, and trying to appeal to pedophiles. Some angry viewers wanted the singer banned from performing or even fined and jailed. Obviously this didn’t happen and Miley Cyrus’ performance had the desired effect – everyone is still talking about her. And because NBC’s “Miley Cyrus: Bangerz Tour” documentary is two hours long, there’s plenty of potential for Miley to cause even more of a stir. Miley’s management has already been inundated with complaints from angry parents who want her Bangerz tour shut down. These parents believe it’s too racy for the former “Hannah Montana” star’s young fans. But how will these parents react when their youngsters can tune in to watch Miley perform over the Fourth of July weekend? The fireworks sparked by the special depends on what NBC includes in the Miley documentary. The network might focus on some of the “Can’t be Tamed” singer’s tamer tour moments, filling in the rest of the two hours with interviews and behind-the-scenes footage. However, Miley’s concerts are jam packed with performances that are too hot for network TV, so there might not be much concert footage left to show. Check out some of the raciest Bangerz tour moments. Miley’s Make Out Session With a Fan Paul Telegdy, NBC President of Alternative and Late Night Programming, said the Miley TV special “will offer an exclusive peek on how she engages with her crew and fans at one of her hugely popular concerts.” Will the segment about how the singer engages with her fans include footage of her making out with them? Miley locked lips with a lucky fan during her Las Vegas concert and she smooched “I Kissed a Girl” singer Katy Perry during a performance in Los Angeles. Katy later responded with a major kiss diss by complaining, “God knows where that tongue has been.” There’s no word if Miley made out with fans during the concerts focused on during the documentary, but she might have been tempted, knowing the NBC cameras were around. Miley’s Monica Lewinsky Affair Reenactment Because Miley’s special airs during the July 4th weekend, maybe Miley performed her very special edition of “Party in the U.S.A.” for NBC. This includes pulling a Lewinsky by simulating oral sex on a dancer wearing a Bill Clinton mask. Reefer Madness Miley’s Bangerz tour concerts are loaded with marijuana references. These include backup dancers dressed up like joints, multiple declarations of her love of her drug, and a marijuana leaf onesie. Speaking of Miley’s onesies, most of them bare a lot more of her butt than she showed off during the VMAs. They’re all thongs, so NBC is going to have to be careful to only show them from the front or have the blurring effect ready. Obsession With Female Anatomy Miley’s concerts include a lot of crotch grabbing and she gets dangerously close to showing off her lady bits when she lies on top of a car and spreads her legs. She also enjoys grabbing her backup dancers’ breasts and showing off her butt cheeks by giving herself wedgies during her performances. There’s also a ride on a giant phallic hot dog, plenty of dirty talk, and even a little panty-gnawing. Stay tuned to see if Miley’s antics cause another wave of outrage after “Miley Cyrus: Bangerz Tour” airs Sunday, July 6 at 9 p.m. ET on NBC.
