Read Our 2024 Mediacom Guide to Get All The Details on Mediacom Internet, TV, and Home Phone

Our experts have spent hours researching Mediacom’s services so you don't have to.

What services does Mediacom offer?

Mediacom offers cable internet, TV, and home phone service across 22 U.S. states.

Mediacom’s internet plans offer up fast speeds at low prices, and its contract-free plans are a big plus. Its TV plans are less than stellar, though, with lackluster channel lineups and a requirement to be bundled with Mediacom internet—bundling is also a requirement for Mediacom’s home phone service.

Mediacom has four main internet plans for existing customers priced at $34.99–$54.99/mo. (for the first 12 months).

Single people, couples without children, and smaller families can do a lot of HD streaming and gaming with the slowest plan, Internet 100. For hardcore 4K streamers and gamers, we recommend the 1 Gig plan.

But in our 2024 internet customer satisfaction survey, only 60% of Mediacom respondents said they were highly satisfied with the internet provider. For more details, check out our Mediacom internet review.

When you bundle Mediacom internet and TV service, you can choose from three channel tiers:

  • Local TV (50+ channels) is a basic lineup of local and regional channels.
  • Essential TV (125+ channels) includes basic cable networks like Nickelodeon and FX.
  • Variety TV (170+ channels) is Mediacom’s largest TV package, with channels like DIY Network and ESPN.

We’re not fans of Mediacom’s decision to require an internet plan to get TV service. If we had to pick, we’d go with Variety TV because you’ll get the most basic cable channels for your home. Mediacom’s lower-tier packages are affordable, but Local TV has a barebones channel lineup while Essential TV is missing common channels like ESPN and Disney XD.

Home phone is a similar deal–a bundle is required to get this Mediacom service. However, it’s only an additional $5 per month, which is significantly cheaper than most competitors (looking at you, Cox and Spectrum). So if you want the security of a landline, Mediacom isn’t a bad way to go.

Is Mediacom worth it?

Mediacom has a lot of the upsides and downsides you’d expect from a mid-sized internet, TV, and home phone provider. Its TV plans have some big channel gaps and put common channels like ESPN behind a premium lineup tier.

But with fast download speeds, contract-free service, and low prices for the first year, Mediacom still has decent internet perks. With Mediacom’s no-contract service, it might be worth trying Mediacom Xtream internet out for a year to see if its affordable internet meets your needs.
