Freevee is an obscure streaming service, existing on the periphery of Amazon’s higher-profile platform, Prime Video. If you’re already a Prime Video subscriber, you might be unaware of the difference between the intertwined services.

But for non-subscribers, Freevee is a great way to catch free movies, TV shows, and select Amazon Originals. Its interface is lacking, though, so we’re here to help you find the best titles on this ad-supported service.

Jury Duty | Comedy

Freevee’s highest-profile (and Emmy-nominated) original series is Jury Duty, an innovative comedy that placed a real juror in a fictional trial just to see what would happen. Every other juror is an actor, and every mishap is scripted, but the twelfth juror, a solar contractor named Ronald Gladden, is completely out of the loop. It’s like The Truman Show, but with lawyers.

Also, James Marsden is there.

Schitt’s Creek | Comedy

Schitt’s Creek was one of the greatest sitcoms of the 2010s, but if you missed it, you can now watch it for free with Amazon Freevee. It follows a recently bankrupted family, previously accustomed to a ridiculous life of wealth and leisure, who settle in a small town called Schitt’s Creek. If you’re wondering why some of your friends started saying, “Ew, David!” in 2015, this show is why.

The Librarians | Fantasy, adventure

The Librarian and its sequels are some of the best examples of one of my favorite genres: weird, cheesy made-for-TV sci-fi and fantasy. Think ensemble casts, wacky plotlines, and lots of questionable special effects.

For whatever reason, The Librarian movies show up on a lot of free, ad-supported streaming (FAST) services. But you might have missed The Librarians, the TNT spinoff that delivered weekly adventures hunting down magical artifacts. Luckily, Freevee is here to get you up to speed before the CW reboots it next year.

Belfast | Drama

This award-winning film shows The Troubles through the eyes of a nine-year-old boy. It’s a semi-autobiographical story for director Kenneth Branagh, who was a young boy himself during the same period.

If you’re not convinced to watch it just for the striking black-and-white stylization, it also boasts a star-studded cast including Caitríona Balfe (Outlander), Jamie Dornan (Fifty Shades of Grey), and Judi Dench (Judi Dench).

Baby Driver | Action, crime

The action film Baby Driver is known for its killer soundtrack, following a getaway driver with a pair of (still wired, this was 2017!) earbuds. It’s a classic “one more job and I’m done” kind of crime story and a rarity in the action movie genre—it’s not part of a larger franchise, even if Sony probably wishes it was.

The Lorax | Adventure, comedy

Based on the children’s book of the same name, The Lorax reinvents the story of a grumpy tree guardian fighting against the destructive forces of industry. You can thank this movie for introducing “How Bad Can I Be?” and the hot, guitar-playing version of the Onceler into the world.

Freevee produces its own originals, separate from Amazon Prime’s original content, although they’re often difficult to find. You’ll find them either by chance or by searching for them directly. But if you want to skip to the good stuff, here are some titles currently on our radar:

Amazon added over 100 of its Prime Originals to Freevee—available to watch for free with ads—in 2023. As of January 2024, those titles are still there, but they’re hard to find (we recommend watching on the TV app for the best experience) and it’s unclear how long they’ll stick around.
