This ‘Doctor Who’ Timeline Explains It All Ahead of ‘The War Between the Land and the Sea’

Hop in the TARDIS with CableTV.com for the Doctor Who Timeline

We’re big “Doctor Who” fans here at CableTV.com, and we’ve made it our mission over the years to keep track of the Doctor’s adventures and the “Doctor Who” Timeline. As any “Doctor Who” fan will know, this ridiculously in-depth (and long) infographic is hard to keep up to date as the Doctor’s history grows longer and more complicated—but we’ve managed to do it. (Seriously, what kind of show has three different “first” seasons?)

But that’s why we’re here: to make all the most complicated TV-viewing situations a little less complicated. Or at least, nicer to look at the “Doctor Who” Timeline.

So whether you’ve been a fan since 1963 or you just started watching with Ncuti Gatwa, this infographic will bring you up to speed before watching “Who” spinoff “The War Between the Land and the Sea,” which is still yet to release in the United States.

You can also use it to find your next watch. Just interested in Dalek episodes? Or ones featuring the Brigadier? Use our guide to create your dream watchlist.

Where to watch every season of Doctor Who

Service Seasons Years Price
BritBox 1–26 1963–1989 $7.99/mo.
Hoopla 1–13 2005–2022 Free at participating libraries
Disney+ 1–2 2023–2025 $11.99–$18.99/mo.

“Doctor Who” is split into three eras: Classic, New, and Disney. That’s why there are three different “first” seasons.

They’re also split across streaming services. Classic Who is streaming on BritBox and Disney Who is streaming on Disney+. Unfortunately, my personal favorite era, New Who, left HBO Max and is no longer available on traditional streaming.

The good news? It’s actually available for free if your local library is cool about it.  If your library system participates in Hoopla, you’ll be able to use your library card to check out entire seasons of New Who (and a bunch of sick additional content). Libraries: 1; Streaming services: 0.
