Over 36 years after Top Gun hit theaters, Tom Cruise returned as Pete “Maverick” Mitchell in Top Gun: Maverick. The long-awaited sequel comes from filmmaker Joseph Kosinski, who also directed Only the Brave and Tron: Legacy.
All these years later, Maverick is merely a test pilot in the U.S. Navy. But the flying ace soon finds his way back to the TOPGUN program at the order of an old friend. Now, Maverick must prep an elite group of graduates for a challenging mission.

Is Top Gun: Maverick in theaters?
Top Gun: Maverick is no longer playing in theaters. Paramount Pictures released the film on May 27, 2022, and it was a major success at the box office—prolonging its stay in cinemas for months.
On August 12, 2022, Paramount expanded the film’s theatrical release for special “fan appreciation” screenings. Behind-the-scenes footage accompanied the film as the studio celebrated its box office reign.
The movie also had a successful run on IMAX screens. In some cities, you can still find select showings of Top Gun: Maverick on IMAX and other premium large format (PLF) screens.
Is Top Gun: Maverick available to stream?
Top Gun: Maverick hit digital retailers on August 23, 2022. You can buy or rent the film through VOD stores like Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, and Vudu.
On December 22, 2022, Top Gun Maverick became available to stream on Paramount+. You can now stream the film on the following platforms:

Top Gun: Maverick made its home video debut in November 2022—just in time for the holiday season. You can buy the film on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD.

It stars a pre–Tiger Blood Charlie Sheen as U.S. Navy pilot Sean “Topper” Harley, who’s summoned back to active duty for a secret mission. Comedic hijinks ensue, spoofing other films like Rocky and Superman.
