Attention, True Americans: New Girl will be leaving Netflix, its streaming home for a decade, in April 2023. All that quality time you spend with Jess, Nick, Schmidt, Winston, and Cece is soon coming to an end—at least on that service.
Beginning April 17, 2023, you’ll have two New Girl streaming choices: Hulu and Peacock. All seven seasons and 146 episodes of the dysfunctional Millennial comedy will be available on both streaming services, which means you’re probably going through a Taylor Swift-like range of emotions right now. We can help.
What’s New Girl?
New Girl is a 2011–2018 FOX comedy starring Zoey Deschanel as “adorkable” schoolteacher Jess, a recently single Los Angelino in need of a new place to live. She finds the perfect loft but has to share it with three strangers: bartender Nick (Jake Johnson), marketing associate Schmidt (Max Greenfield), and ex-basketball pro Winston (Lamorne Morris).
Jess’ childhood friend Cece (Hannah Simone), a model with a wicked sense of humor, makes the cast a fivesome. Between them, New Girl explores the ups and downs of 30-something life and relationships while also hilariously defining the Millennial friends-as-family dynamic. New Girl is also endlessly quotable and meme-able. One of our favorites:

New Girl on Netflix
New Girl was a decent broadcast hit on FOX, but it picked up an even bigger following later, streaming on Netflix. But, as of April 17, 2023, New Girl’s 10-year relationship with Netflix is over—which is going to throw fans, who’ve watched and rewatched the show there for so long that they might think it’s a Netflix original, for a loop. Remember when The Office left Netflix? It’s that kind of vibe.
New Girl on Hulu
Fortunately, New Girl will become available on two new on-demand streamers in April, one of them being Hulu. New Girl will be a great fit there, sitting alongside like-minded comedies such as Happy Endings, Dollface, and Broad City. Hulu is also a little less expensive than Netflix (Hulu with ads, $7.99 a month; Hulu without ads, $12.99 a month).
New Girl on Peacock
New Girl’s second new home, beginning April 17, 2023, will be Peacock, which is even cheaper than Hulu (Peacock with ads, $5.99 a month; Peacock without ads, $11.99 a month). More than most other streaming services, Peacock has a deep bench of comedy series, like Parks and Recreation, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and Grand Crew, which will complement the streaming arrival of Jess and the gang.
New Girl to rent or buy
If you’d rather have New Girl to yourself without relying on a streaming service, you can buy or rent individual episodes or full seasons of the series through Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV/iTunes, Google Play Movies & TV, Vudu, or YouTube. Single episodes go for around $1.99 or less (Prime Video currently lists them at $0.74), and Vudu offers a complete seven-season bundle for just $55.99.
