11 Best Shows on Prime Video to Watch Long Past Bedtime

Watch the Best Shows on Prime like Gen V

Have you run out of shows to watch? CableTV.com is here to say not so fast! We’re revisiting our TikTok video to bring you a beefed-up list of recommendations that will have you glued to your screen.

Amazon is synonymous with heavy-hitting series, and much like their same-day rush shipping, they do original content extraordinarily well. This list is heavy on action, but it also features some cult-classic animation and high-fantasy epicness to round things out.

1. “Jack Ryan” (2018–2023)

Starting things off with “Jack Ryan,” one of Tom Clancy’s most popular characters, coming straight to your TV. John Krasinski can truly do it all. He can be the goofy but lovable Jim Halpert or a CIA analyst fighting global terrorism. This series modernizes the classic spy thriller by putting Jack in the middle of high-stakes geopolitical warfare. It’s a globe-trotting adventure that balances intense tactical action with the intellectual chess match of intelligence work.

2. “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” (2022–present)

I’m going to ask you to stay with me on this next one: “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.” Set proper expectations—don’t go in thinking Peter Jackson. Rather, go in thankful for more time enjoying Middle-earth. The production value is absolutely massive, capturing the Second Age with breathtaking visuals and a soaring score. Whether you’re a hardcore Tolkien fan or just looking for a cinematic fantasy escape, the world-building here is second to none.

3. “The Boys” (2019–2026)

“The Boys” brings you characters that you will love for a lifetime, whether you want to or not. It’s easily Prime Video’s most profane and satirical show, flipping the superhero genre on its head by asking what would happen if ‘supes’ were actually corporate-owned sociopaths. As we head into the final season, the stakes for Billy Butcher and Homelander have never been higher. It’s bloody, hilarious, and deeply cynical—perfect for those tired of traditional caped crusaders.

4. “Reacher” (2022–Present)

The character of Jack Reacher has been attempted a couple of times, but Alan Ritchson holds his own. He perfectly embodies the “large and in charge” investigator from Lee Child’s novels who wanders from town to town solving crimes with his fists. Unlike past adaptations, this series feels gritty and authentic to the source material. Each season follows a self-contained mystery, making it incredibly easy to jump in and start watching.

5. “Fallout” (2024–present)

If you are late to the “Fallout” party, come join us! You’ll be hooked on this nuclear apocalyptic show starring Walton Goggins and Ella Purnell. It’s a masterful adaptation of the video game franchise that captures that unique “retrofuturistic” vibe and dark humor. Whether you’re a fan of the games or a newcomer, the mystery of the vaults and the chaos of the surface world will keep you hitting “next episode” until 3:00 a.m.

6. “The Terminal List” (2022–present)

“The Terminal List” is a to-do list of vengeance that’ll hook you for hours on end. Chris Pratt plays a Navy SEAL whose entire platoon is ambushed, which leads him down a dark rabbit hole of conspiracy and revenge. It’s a very grounded, tactical thriller that doesn’t shy away from the psychological toll of war. If you liked “Jack Ryan,” this’ll be the perfect companion piece for your next weekend binge.

7. “Invincible” (2021–present)

I cannot recommend ‘”Invincible” enough if you want something that looks like a Saturday morning cartoon but hits like a freight train. It follows Mark Grayson, the son of the world’s most powerful superhero, as he develops his own powers and discovers a dark family secret. The voice cast, led by Steven Yeun and J.K. Simmons, is phenomenal. It’s easily the best-regarded animated show Amazon has ever launched, and for good reason.

8. “The Night Manager” (2016–present)

After nearly a decade away, “The Night Manager” is finally back for a second season! Tom Hiddleston is magnetic as a hotel night manager recruited by British intelligence to infiltrate the inner circle of a ruthless arms dealer played by Hugh Laurie. The show is smart, stylish, and incredibly gripping. It’s the kind of high-brow spy drama that makes you feel like you’re watching a six-hour James Bond movie.

9. “Fleabag” (2016–2019)

If you need a break from all the action, ‘”Fleabag” is an absolute masterpiece of comedy and tragedy. Phoebe Waller-Bridge is dry witted and unfiltered as she navigates life and love in London. It’s famous for its fourth-wall breaks and its incredibly sharp writing, which is short, punchy, and will leave you emotionally compromised in the best way possible.

10. “The Summer I Turned Pretty” (2022–present)

For something a bit more heartfelt, “The Summer I Turned Pretty” is the ultimate teen romance drama. It centers on a girl named Belly and a complicated love triangle that unfolds during her family’s annual summer beach trip. It’s a total “vibe” show—perfect for when you want to turn off your brain and enjoy some sun-soaked drama. Plus, a finale movie is currently in the works to wrap up the story!

11. “Gen V” (2023–present)

If you finished “The Boys” and need another hit of that universe, “Gen V” is the gritty spin-off you’re looking for. It follows college-aged “supes” at Godolkin University who are competing for top rankings and discoveries about Vought’s dark secrets. It preserves the gore and satire of the original series while adding a fresh, young-adult perspective that works surprisingly well.
