Are you ready for it? This weekend, I’m celebrating the premiere of End of an Era by rewinding through Taylor Swift’s entire history of on-screen eras.
While she is best known for breaking records left and right in the music industry, Ms. Swift has actually been gracing our screens in movies and TV specials for over a decade.
If you’re looking to host the ultimate marathon of Taylor Swift movies, here are 12 titles you need to queue up immediately, including The End of an Era.
1. Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience (2009)
First, she rocked the stage in Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience from 2009—singing “Should’ve Said No.” Watching a curly-haired Taylor share the stage with the JoBros in their prime is a pure nostalgia trip.
It was the golden age of side bangs and teen angst, and honestly, seeing her command the stage this early on proves she was destined for superstardom.
2. Hannah Montana: The Movie (2009)
That same year, Taylor appeared as herself in Hannah Montana: The Movie. She performs “Crazier” during a barn party, and let me tell you, it was a major pop culture moment for Disney Channel fans everywhere.
When she leans out of that window with her guitar? It’s a standout scene. It might be a cameo, but she captured the audience with a country charm that perfectly fits the film’s Tennessee setting.
3. Valentine’s Day (2010)
But it wasn’t until 2010’s Valentine’s Day that she had her first big screen role—opposite Taylor Lautner. As a fellow Taylor, watching “Taylor Squared” act out a high school romance is undeniably charming.
Plus, she wrote “Today Was a Fairytale” for this movie, which remains a catchy anthem that belongs on every romance playlist.
4. The Lorax (2012)
Two years later, Taylor voiced Audrey in The Lorax, a character named after Dr. Seuss’s wife. She plays the dream girl who literally just wants to see a tree, which serves as the spark for the entire adventure.
Her voice acting does the job, bringing a sweet, wholesome energy that makes the character immediately likable.
5. The Giver (2014)
Taylor then ventured into a dystopian world as Rosemary in The Giver. Acting alongside Meryl Streep? An impressive pairing.
She plays the previous Receiver of Memory, and her performance is a hauntingly beautiful departure from her typical bubbly self. It showed us a much darker, more serious side of her talent, highlighting her versatility.
6. Cats (2019)
And yes, Taylor even channeled her inner feline as Bombalurina in Cats. I don’t know if I can talk about the film without triggering traumatic flashbacks to its CGI-anthropomorphized cats. But to her credit, Taylor fully committed to the role.
While the movie’s overall vibe is a resounding ‘yikes,’ Taylor’s rendition of “Macavity” is an undeniable highlight. She sprinkled some glitter on the production and somehow made it work.
7. Miss Americana (2020)
As far as Taylor Swift movies go, this Netflix documentary is essential viewing for any fan. It pulls back the curtain on her political awakening and the pressure of fame, and it offers a deeply moving look at her life.
Watching her find a more unfiltered voice and stand up for what she believes in is incredibly inspiring. If you weren’t a fan before, this movie provides powerful context for her career.
8. folklore: the long pond studio sessions (2020)
If you want to feel like you are relaxing in a cabin with Taylor, this Disney+ special is a cathartic experience. She performs folklore in an intimate setting, creating a warm, inviting atmosphere.
It’s breathy and moody, and it showcases her songwriting genius in a way that resonates deeply with a lot of fans. There’s even a guest appearance by my fellow Wisconsinite, Justin Vernon (of Bon Iver fame).
9. Amsterdam (2022)
Taylor’s last acting performance came briefly in David O. Russell’s Amsterdam. I won’t spoil her fate, but her character makes an exit that is surprisingly memorable.
She holds her own against Christian Bale, proving she can hang with the heavy hitters of Hollywood without breaking a sweat. Unfortunately, it’s just not that great of a movie.
10. Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (2023)
If you live on Earth, you’ve probably seen Taylor’s Eras Tour concert film, which smashed box office records upon its worldwide release two years ago. It wasn’t just a movie; it was a cinematic spectacle that took theaters by storm.
And perhaps it goes without saying, but outside of Beyoncé’s Renaissance, this film was arguably the musical event of the decade so far.
11. The Eras Tour: The Final Show (2025)
In typical Taylor fashion, just when we thought the tour was over, she gifted us The Final Show, capturing the electrifying conclusion of this historic run.
This Disney+ version includes every single surprise song and a goodbye speech that hits every emotional note. It’s the definitive, perfect farewell to the eras that defined a generation.
12. The End of an Era (2025)
To cap it all off, Disney+ has dropped this six-part docuseries that promises Swifties even more fascinating insights. The End of an Era chronicles the exhaustion and exhilaration of the final leg of the tour.
Seeing the “Mastermind” herself deconstruct how she pulled off the biggest tour in history is incredible behind-the-scenes content that I think Swifties will appreciate for years to come.
