These days, anyone can quickly check the weather on their phone, but that’s not the same as turning on the TV and having a meteorologist explain to you just what to expect. This is especially true as we see more hurricanes, blizzards, and other extreme weather events.
It’s easy to tune into live TV weather, even without cable. Keep reading as we walk you through your options.
How to watch your local weather broadcast for free
Our favorite way to catch local weather (and news) is to purchase an over-the-air (OTA) antenna. It’s just a one-time purchase, and you’ll never have to rely on streaming services or subscriptions for local channels again.
But if you’re looking for something quicker or more convenient, try a free, ad-supported television (FAST) service. Some of these services have their own apps or websites, and some come pre-installed on smart TVs.
Weather live stream with Local Now
Local Now is a FAST service that uses your location to provide local news and weather broadcasts. Type in your zip code, and it’ll compile a playlist of recent clips from The Weather Channel and your local news stations.
Unfortunately, you can’t see the full playlist at once; you’ll have to skip through until you find what you want.
How to watch FOX Weather for free
One of the most popular FAST channels is FOX Weather. It won’t give you local weather like Local Now, but it’s available on a wider range of platforms.

How to watch The Weather Channel for free
The Weather Channel streaming service requires a $2.99 monthly subscription, but you may already have access to its coverage through your cable provider or live TV streaming service.

The Weather Channel on Local Now
In addition to clips from your local news station, Local Now provides select coverage from The Weather Channel. It won’t be as in-depth as a full Weather Channel subscription, but it will keep you up-to-date with new developments in your area.
The Weather Channel en Español
While the full English-language Weather Channel isn’t currently available for free streaming, its Spanish-language counterpart is.
