Newsmax, also known as the “Is Pepsi OK?” of conservative media, originated in the late ’90s as a website offering right-wing political opinion. Newsmax TV was launched on DIRECTV and DISH in 2014, just in time to condemn the final two years of the Barack Obama administration.
The network is still available on satellite TV today, as well as a handful of cable, satellite, and live TV streaming services, reaching enough viewers to make it worthwhile for voting systems Dominion and Smartmatic to sue Newsmax for airing 2020 election denialism and defamation.

As it was upon launch, Newsmax is still available on DIRECTV and DISH satellite TV services, but its cable footprint remains minuscule. The channel is mostly absent from Xfinity and Optimum cable and is carried by only a few regional Cox and Spectrum providers.
