If your home internet setup includes hardware (such as smart home cameras) that needs a stable cloud connection, you’ll want to consider upgrading to Spectrum Invincible. In addition to WiFi 7 support, the Invincible includes an integrated backup system that connects your home to the internet via 5G in the event of a power or internet outage. With up to eight hours of emergency backup power, Spectrum Invincible helps you wait out storms or inclement weather.

Spectrum’s the latest ISP to upgrade internet equipment

Between smart home gear, gaming, and 4K streaming, we’re long past the days when an ISP could send customers home with a single modem and call it good. Spectrum’s hardware ecosystem is no slouch with its WiFi router options and WiFi Extender add-ons, but backup internet systems have generally been limited to business or rural customers.

As a result, it’ll be interesting to see how customers respond to Spectrum Invincible’s features and backup connection capabilities. WiFi 7 is increasingly standard on new laptops and smartphones, and Spectrum’s WiFi 7 support on the Invincible underscores the need for ISPs to upgrade to stay current with consumers.

Similarly, Spectrum’s ability to offer 5G backup connectivity will be a huge separator against the competition. The provider utilizes its 5G network—which also powers Spectrum Mobile—to provide fast backup internet speeds, so your home won’t have to settle for slower LTE speeds. The fact that Spectrum’s battery is low-profile next to the gateway will also be a plus for residential subscribers who prefer a streamlined equipment footprint.
