Will There Be a Season 5 of ‘Ted Lasso’? Execs and Fans Weigh In.

Will Apple TV renew “Ted Lasso” for another season?
Just two years ago, we all thought we’d seen the last of the irascible coach from middle America, but now TV fans want to know if “Ted Lasso” will be back for another season on the pitch.
Although Apple TV has yet to renew the now-classic comedy for Season 5, signs are good for all you Diamond Dogs out there. So far, here’s what we know.

Apple TV execs keep teasing a Season 5 of “Ted Lasso”
In a Deadline interview from July this year, Head of Programming at Apple, Matt Cherniss, let the following slip about showrunner Jason Sudeikis: “Jason’s still hard at work on season four, and I know he’s looking to jump into the next season soon, but to my knowledge, I don’t think we’ve gotten started on it yet.”
Likewise, in August 2026, during a red carpet interview with ScreenRant, Eddy Cue, Senior Vice President of Services at Apple, stated that “Ted Lasso” still has more story to tell.
If Apple executives are publicly talking about a Season 5, we’ll likely see a fifth season of “Ted Lasso” soon. But that’s not everything we know.
Sudeikis is planning on at least a Season 5 (and maybe even a Season 6)
Ahead of the Season 4 premiere in July, in a featured profile, The Hollywood Reporter outlined Sudeikis’ vision for the series: “The Lasso team will be back in the writers room in late August mapping out a not-yet-ordered season five,” adding that “Sudeikis has a three-season arc in mind.”
So, the showrunner and his team are most likely already hard at work scripting more seasons even without Apple TV making it official. That sounds promising.
Do fans even want a Season 5 of “Ted Lasso”?
The final boss to conquer for a “Ted Lasso” Season 5 would be a lack of fan enthusiasm and viewership.
Fan sentiment on Reddit is mixed, but mostly positive. When a podcaster claimed, without verifiable evidence, that “Ted Lasso” was renewed for Season 5 in August, fans weighed in.
Scores of enthusiastic fans were happy for Sudeikis’ success and genuinely excited for more funny, feel-good episodes.
But some fans were more skeptical, with one Reddit user commenting, “I would much rather it goes on until it loses quality than they force a rushed, inappropriate ending like they tried to do in Season 3, where everything was supposedly wrapped up neatly, but nothing was satisfying.”
TV fans also responded warmly to the idea of a Season 5 of “Ted Lasso” on one of our recent CableTV.com Instagram polls, with, on a scale of Ted Lasso (very excited) to Roy Kent (IDGAF), 65% of TV fans registering some level of excitement for another season and only 28% not caring. (Who are you, people? Seriously.)
Haters aside, as Variety reported in August, “Ted Lasso” Season 4 was “the biggest launch in the history of Apple TV, outpacing all previous seasons of ‘Ted Lasso’ in addition to buzzy titles like ‘Severance’ and ‘Pluribus.'”
In other words, fans are still very interested in the “Ted Lasso” story, too.
All signs point to a Season 5 of “Ted Lasso”
I would put money on Apple announcing the Season 5 return of “Ted Lasso” soon after tonight’s season finale. Apple execs would be crazy not to.

Apple TV won our 2026 Best of the Best Award for streaming because of its high-quality, fan-friendly originals like “Ted Lasso” and “Loot.” What’s more, despite its recent price hike (the first in years), Apple TV is still very affordable.
More “Ted Lasso” fun
Ted Lasso ended its three-season run in 2023 (or did it?), and it’s still one of the most popular shows on Apple TV. But, there are only so many times you can rewatch Ted’s lush mustache, Roy’s profane rants, and Trent Crimm’s inexhaustible T-shirt collection.
