Between now and 2032, MLS Season Pass is home to every live Major League Soccer game. The streaming subscription is available worldwide exclusively through the Apple TV app. That means you’ll need an internet connection to tune in, but you can watch your favorite club in action even if you travel abroad.

Select MLS games still air on FOX Sports channels. But because of the league’s partnership with Apple, you’ll no longer find your local team on regional sports networks. It’s a great relief for cord-cutters, but it alienates some cable and satellite TV users.

Like any new TV package, MLS Season Pass comes with many questions. I’m actively testing the service, so keep reading to explore my findings and learn how to sign up at a discounted price.

Is MLS Season Pass worth it?

MLS Season Pass is a must-have streaming service if you’re a Major League Soccer fan with access to fast and reliable internet.

For $14.99 a month, you’ll have every live MLS game at your fingertips with no regional blackouts and minimal language barriers. That’s a massive step forward for a major league sport in the U.S., as other services like MLB.TV, NBA League Pass, and NFL+ have more restrictions.

MLS Season Pass also comes with live Leagues Cup and MLS NEXT matches. Plus, Apple and MLS conjured up a great selection of announcers this season—giving you English- and Spanish-language commentary for every game. It’s an auditory experience that builds upon Apple’s dynamic presentation of live games that the tech giant kicked off with Friday Night Baseball.

The Apple TV app only offers its Multiview feature on select devices, so not everyone can watch multiple MLS games simultaneously. There are also limited cable or satellite TV alternatives, with DIRECTV being the only non-streaming provider to offer MLS Season Pass as an add-on. If that’s a dealbreaker, you can still catch some games on traditional TV channels, as outlined in my How To Watch Major League Soccer guide.

How much does MLS Season Pass cost?

MLS Season Pass costs $14.99 a month or $99.00 for the whole season. Both pricing options have the same content, so you won’t get soccer FOMO if you pay monthly. However, you’ll save more with the season-long subscription when you sign up by the opening weekend.

While MLS Season Pass is accessible through the Apple TV app, you’ll need a separate subscription to Apple TV+ to stream Apple Originals like Ted Lasso, Severance, and The Morning Show. Fortunately, existing Apple TV+ subscribers can sign up for MLS Season Pass at a discounted price of $12.99 a month. You can even mix and match a monthly Apple TV+ subscription with the season-long MLS Season Pass plan.

MLS Season Pass deals and promotions

MLS Season Pass doesn’t offer a free trial, but certain content and select live matches are available for free through the Apple TV app. All you need is a free Apple ID account to check it out.

If you’re an Apple TV+ subscriber, you can sign up for MLS Season Pass at a discounted price of $12.99 a month or $79.00 a season. Otherwise, Sunday Night Soccer matches will be available to all Apple TV+ subscribers at no extra charge this year.

MLS Season Pass programming

With every live MLS game—including the MLS All-Star Game, MLS Playoffs, and MLS Cup Final—it’s easy to overlook what else MLS Season Pass offers. But its live content doesn’t stop there. It also hosts all Leagues Cup matches* and hundreds of MLS NEXT games.

Besides live matchups, MLS Season Pass has live pregame and postgame shows and a five-hour whip-around program called MLS 360—similar to NFL RedZone. That’s on top of a sizable on-demand library filled with highlights, full-game replays, and behind-the-scenes documentaries.

The MLS Season Pass home page displays rows of on-demand MLS content.
MLS Season Pass has a lot of on-demand content for nostalgic viewing, as seen on a Safari web browser.

From the very beginning, MLS Season Pass has offered a wealth of content, and its library expands with each passing season. Here’s a list of the main programs available on MLS Season Pass:

  • The Best of MLS
  • Beyond the Pitch
  • Club Profiles
  • Drone Tour
  • Iconic Players
  • MLS 360
  • MLS Classics

MLS Season Pass specs and features

MLS Season Pass is a straightforward streaming service with some nifty features for Apple users, but the diverse live audio channels are what makes it a winning experience for me.

I already highlighted how each match comes with English- and Spanish-language commentary. But all games featuring Canadian teams also have a Canadian French–language audio track to choose from. Plus, you can select local radio broadcasts as alternate audio to hear how unique the play-by-play announcers are for all 30 clubs.

My biggest concern with MLS Season Pass is that its multiscreen option is available only on Apple TV 4K and iPad devices. Most MLS matches take place in bulk on Saturdays—meaning many games happen simultaneously. Introducing a picture-in-picture or split-screen view across all devices is vital for those who play MLS Fantasy, so I hope Apple adds it soon.

Video and audio quality

MLS produces live game broadcasts for MLS Season Pass in 1080p resolution with Dolby 5.1 audio. You can also stream select on-demand content in 4K.
