Between now and 2032, MLS Season Pass is home to every live Major League Soccer game. The streaming subscription is available worldwide exclusively through the Apple TV app. That means you’ll need an internet connection to tune in, but you can watch your favorite club in action even if you travel abroad.

Select MLS games will still air on FOX Sports channels. But because of the league’s partnership with Apple, you’ll no longer find your local team on regional sports networks. It’s a great relief for cord-cutters, but it alienates cable and satellite TV users.

Like any new TV package, MLS Season Pass comes with many questions. We’re actively testing the service this season, so keep reading to explore our findings and learn how to sign up at a discounted price. Sports logo featuring animated athlete with raised hands.

MLS Season Pass pros and cons

  • Every MLS game
  • English- and Spanish-language commentary
  • Reasonable pricing

  • No cable or satellite alternative
  • No multiview for simultaneous games
  • Android-device limitations

Is MLS Season Pass worth it?

We think MLS Season Pass is a must-have streaming service if you’re a Major League Soccer fan with access to fast and reliable internet.

For $14.99 a month, you’ll have every live MLS game at your fingertips with no regional blackouts and minimal language barriers. That’s a massive step forward for a major league sport in the US, as other services like MLB.TV, NBA League Pass, and NFL+ have more restrictions.

MLS Season Pass also comes with live Leagues Cup and MLS NEXT matches. Plus, Apple and MLS conjured up a great selection of announcers this season—giving you English- and Spanish-language commentary for every game. It’s an auditory experience that builds upon Apple’s dynamic presentation of live games that the tech giant kicked off last year through its Friday Night Baseball broadcasts.

Currently, the Apple TV app doesn’t have a split screen feature to watch multiple MLS games at once. There’s also no cable or satellite TV alternative for those who live in an area without reliable internet. So if you’re not ready for MLS Season Pass, you can still catch some games on traditional TV channels, as we highlight in our How to Watch Major League Soccer guide.

MLS Season Pass costs $14.99 a month or $99.00 a season. Both pricing options have the same content, so you won’t get soccer FOMO if you pay monthly. However, you’ll save around $35 annually if you choose the season-long subscription.

While MLS Season Pass is accessible through the Apple TV app, you’ll need a separate subscription to Apple TV+ to stream Apple Originals like Ted Lasso, Severance, and The Morning Show. But in our next section, we’ll cover how Apple TV+ subscribers can save money when signing up for MLS Season Pass.

MLS Season Pass deals and promotions

MLS Season Pass offers a one-month free trial between now and October 31, 2023. All you need is a free Apple ID account to check it out. MLS Season Pass programming

With every live MLS game—including the MLS All-Star Game, MLS Playoffs, and MLS Cup Final—it’s easy to overlook what else MLS Season Pass offers. But its live content doesn’t stop there. It also hosts all Leagues Cup matches* and hundreds of MLS NEXT games.

Besides live matchups, MLS Season Pass has live pregame and postgame shows and a five-hour whip-around program called MLS 360—similar to MLB Big Inning and NFL RedZone. That’s on top of a sizable on-demand library filled with highlights, full-game replays, and behind-the-scenes documentaries.

The MLS Season Pass home page displays rows of on-demand MLS content.
MLS Season Pass has a lot of on-demand content for nostalgic viewing, as seen on a Safari web browser.

From the opening whistle, MLS Season Pass has a lot of fun content. But we’re sure there’ll be much more to explore as the season progresses. For now, here’s a list of the main programs available on MLS Season Pass:

MLS Season Pass specs and features

MLS Season Pass will likely shine more brightly once the 2023 MLS regular season starts. As of now, it’s a straightforward streaming service with some nifty features for Apple users. But one MLS Season Pass feature we’re excited about is the ability to switch between different audio channels for every live game.

We already highlighted how each match comes with English- and Spanish-language commentary. But all games featuring Canadian teams will also have a Canadian French–language audio track to choose from. Plus, you’ll have the option to select local radio broadcasts as alternate audio, so you can hear how unique the play-by-play announcers are for all 29 clubs.

Our biggest concern with MLS Season Pass is that it doesn’t have a multiscreen option. Most MLS matches take place in bulk on Wednesdays and Saturdays—meaning many games happen simultaneously. Introducing a picture-in-picture or split-screen view is vital for those who play MLS Fantasy, so we’re hoping Apple adds the feature sooner than later.

Video and audio quality

MLS produces live game broadcasts for MLS Season Pass in 1080p resolution with Dolby 5.1 audio. You can also stream select on-demand content in 4K.

MLS Season Pass on the Apple TV app

Because MLS Season Pass is accessible only in the Apple TV app, you won’t find the service on Android phones and tablets. Beyond that, the app is compatible with many of the most popular streaming devices, as outlined in the table below.

Final take

MLS Season Pass is a must-have streaming service for MLS fans. At $14.99 a month, it offers the only way to watch every live MLS game this year—including the MLS Playoffs and MLS Cup Final. That’s a big deal for a league-specific streaming service, as similar packages like MLB.TV and NBA League Pass contend with national and regional TV blackouts.

There are a few shortcomings with MLS Season Pass, though. It doesn’t have a multiview or picture-in-picture feature for watching multiple live games simultaneously. Also, the entire service relies on using the Apple TV app with an adequate internet connection.

If you’re already a cord-cutting soccer fanatic, MLS Season Pass will make a fine addition to your streaming lineup. But cable and satellite TV users may need to reevaluate their internet setup, and our Best Internet for Streaming guide is a great place to start.
