Get NBC with an antenna

Don’t want a cable or satellite bill arriving every month? If all you need are local broadcast channels (including NBC), a one-time purchase of a digital over-the-air antenna can set you up with free TV for life.

Get NBC with live TV streaming services

Live TV streaming services, like YouTube TV and Sling TV, are generally less expensive than cable and satellite TV subscriptions, and they don’t require annual contracts. On the downside, you’re less likely to get all of your local channels (like NBC) on a live TV streaming service, and you’ll need a solid internet connection (at least 25 Mbps) to stream glitch-free.

Here are our top live TV streaming services that carry NBC channels:

Get NBC with Peacock, NBC.com, or an app

NBC’s on-demand streaming cousin, Peacock, carries some live sports programming, most notably the 2022 Winter Olympics (every event, beginning Friday, Feb. 4) and this year’s Super Bowl (Super Bowl LVI, Sunday, Feb. 13). But most events are only available on the paid Peacock Premium tiers ($5.99–$9.99 a month), not the free version.

With a cable, satellite, or live TV streaming service login, you can also watch NBC programming, live and some on-demand, at NBC.com. Like Peacock, the site also features “live” channels of looping content from NBC and other NBCUniversal cable channels.

In the app store for your streaming device (Roku, Amazon Fire TV, etc.) or smart TV, you’ll also be able to find apps for NBC, NBC Sports, NBC News, and several local NBC stations. Most require a cable, satellite, or live TV streaming service login, and only some feature live programming.
