Bridgerton season 3 is currently in production, and we can’t wait to see it later this year (likely fall). We’re excited to follow the romance between Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton, even if we know Penelope deserves way better.
But until that day comes, here are six shows and movies for fans of Bridgerton. (Just try not to stage any unauthorized musicals about them.)
Pride & Prejudice (2005)
You can’t talk about Bridgerton without first recommending a few classic Jane Austen tales. Pride & Prejudice, of course, is the most famous.
We’ll let you pick your favorite. Maybe you’re more partial to the 2005 adaptation with Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen. Or maybe you can’t unsee that couple as Elizabeth Swann and Tom from Succession, so you prefer the 1995 movie with Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth.
You can go the nontraditional route, too: Hulu’s Fire Island is a great reimagining of the story in the modern day. We won’t even judge you if you go for Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, although you’ll have to rent that one.
Persuasion (2022)
Netflix’s adaptation of Persuasion just dropped last month. It’s one of Austen’s lesser-known stories; it follows single woman Anne Elliot, heartbroken years after a family friend convinces her to dump her penniless fiancé.
But that fiancé returns to town, no longer penniless, and so begins the awkward dance one must do around their ex. Persuasion tries to do the anachronistic thing, weaving in modern dialogue like the word “ex,” although not as successfully as some other titles on this list.
You just have to ignore the fact that one of her suitors is her cousin.

Emma (2020)
While a lot of Austen’s work is perfect rom-com material, Emma leans heavy on the “com.” The story is about a woman who gets too involved in her friends’ love lives, and is chock-full of all the regency-era misunderstandings and shenanigans that mark the genre.
Filmmakers have also adapted Emma a lot over the years, but the most recent is the 2020 flick with Anya Taylor-Joy (of The Queen’s Gambit fame). You might recognize the plot from the 1995 adaptation, though—better known as Clueless.

Dickinson (2019–2021)
Dickinson is the show for you if your favorite character is Penelope Featherington or Eloise Bridgerton. Emily Dickinson was the OG independent woman with a secret writing career.
Plus, Dickinson has the same campy, anachronistic energy that made Bridgerton use classical covers of “Thank U, Next” and “bad guy.”
Dickinson ran for three seasons before finally stopping for Death.

The Great (2020–2023)
On the other hand, if your favorite character is Queen Charlotte, you might like The Great. It’s more of an anti-romance; don’t expect any love between Catherine and her jerk husband. Instead of a romance between people, The Great’s main relationship is between Catherine and the throne of Russia.
Like Bridgerton, this show already has two seasons available to watch and a third one on the way.

Mr. Malcolm’s List (2022)
Much like Bridgerton, Mr Malcolm’s List is a regency romance with colorblind casting. It has all the elements of a good Austen–esque romp: a rich man with snobbishly high standards, the headstrong heroine who plots to humiliate him, and a lot of empire-waist gowns.
After a run in theaters, Mr. Malcolm’s List is currently available on premium channels or for purchase on video-on-demand (VOD) platforms like Amazon Prime Video and YouTube.
