Season 3 just dropped, and it’s confirmed we’re getting a fourth season of the riveting Netflix teen mystery drama Outer Banks—but (just like with Squid Game’s second season) it’s gonna be a long wait. Here are some similar shows to tide you over until the Pogues and Kooks resume their conflict in 2024.
1. Animal Kingdom | Amazon Prime Video
Adapted from the 2010 Australian film of the same name, this TNT series follows a teen orphan who moves in with the grandmother (Ellen Barkin) and uncles he hardly knows. That’s already mysterious, but what makes Animal Kingdom even more intriguing is that his family is a crime ring run by his calculating—and seductive—gram-gram.

Pro tip: Riverdale’s seventh and final season premiered March 2023 on The CW, and the last season of Animal Kingdom aired in 2022 on TNT. Instead of waiting for both seasons to hit Amazon Prime Video and Netflix, you can stream them on demand if you have a cable, satellite, or live TV streaming subscription.
3. Panic | Amazon Prime Video
In Panic, recent high school graduates participate in a secret annual series of potentially deadly dares for $50,000 and a chance to escape their dreary small-town existences. It’s tense, it’s mysterious, and it’s a terrible alternative to community college.

4. Yellowjackets | SHOWTIME
Yellowjackets is the story of four women who survived their high-school soccer team’s plane crash—and a mysterious 19-month period stranded in remote wilderness. Now adults, they’re forced to confront the ordeal—which may have involved cannibalism—when strangers come sniffing around.

Pro tip: Do you need help choosing between Yellowjackets and The Wilds? Both are worth watching, but Yellowjackets is darker, more intense, and brimming with ‘90s nostalgia. If you prefer gorgeous scenery and an insidious plot twist, and you can stomach the obnoxious product placement, watch The Wilds.
5. The Wilds | Amazon Prime Video
A group of teen girls is stranded on a remote island when their plane crashes. Déjà vu? Nope. This group of girls was en route to a female-empowerment retreat, not a soccer tournament like in Yellowjackets. And the crash wasn’t accidental.

6. The O.C. | Max
This iconic series centered on a troublemaking teenager (Ben McKenzie) who is adopted by a wealthy family living in an upper-class beachside community in Southern California. As he adjusts to his new surroundings, he and his fellow teens deal with family issues, socioeconomic clashes, and, of course, teen romance and forbidden love.

7. On My Block | Netflix
In On My Block we follow a group of restless teenagers trying to survive high school in their hometown of South Central L.A. With plenty of teen romance, friendship, and a class divide (and even a stolen treasure hunt storyline in the first season), it will be sure to help fill the Outer Banks-sized hole in your heart.
