Musical comedy series Girls5eva has developed a harmonious cult following since its 2021 streaming debut on Peacock. But, the Girls will be on the move in 2024, jumping from Peacock to a new streaming home for its third season on Thursday, March 14.
What’s Girls5eva about?
Girls5eva is a half-hour musical comedy show from the writers and producers of 30 Rock and The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. The series is about a female pop vocal group that had a single hit in the early 2000s but then broke up and went their separate ways. But, when an up-and-coming rapper samples their song 20 years later, the women decide to reunite for another shot at fame.
With all the hijinks you’d expect from the creatives behind 30 Rock, Girls5eva’s not-as-simple-as-they-thought comeback is hilariously absurdist. And, like The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, it’s also full of catchy retro-pop songs.
In addition to the four core stars (Sarah Bareilles, Busy Phillips, Paula Pell, and Renée Elise Goldsberry), Girls5eva also features cameos by Vanessa Williams, Stephen Colbert, and Tina Fey as a vision of Dolly Parton. (FYI, the fifth member of Girls5eva, Ashley, died tragically in an Infinity pool accident in 2004, a very This Is Spinal Tap comic touch.)
In seasons 1 and 2, the singers began writing new songs and completed their comeback album, despite myriad distractions like divorces, lack of paparazzi coverage, and the Property Brothers. Season 3 will see Girls5eva embarking on their first concert tour in decades, which promises even more musical madness.

Girls5eva on Netflix
On Thursday, March 14, Girls5eva will premiere its third season on Netflix. Unlike its previous two seasons—which will also be available on Netflix on the same date—the new season will stream in its six-episode entirety (Peacock only released new episodes week by week).
Girls5eva to rent or buy
As of March 14, Girls5eva isn’t available to rent or buy through video-on-demand services like Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, Google Play, or YouTube. All three seasons of Girls5eva are exclusive to Netflix.
