Everything coming to HBO Max in April 2026

April is packed with new arrivals on HBO Max. From HBO Originals to beloved film classics, there’s plenty hitting the platform throughout the month.

Whether you’re tuning in for the final season of a fan-favorite series or catching up on a film you’ve been meaning to watch, here’s everything you need to know about what’s new on HBO Max in April 2026.

But first, here are some recommendations from our editors to get you started.

CableTV.com staff pics on HBO April 2026

Alien film series (1979–2024)

These legendary science-fiction/horror films usually stream exclusively on Hulu, but it looks like HBO Max licensed them for a spell. So this is great news if you have the latter service but not the former. Most of the films arrive on April 1, but you’ll have to wait until April 3 for “Alien: Romulus.” —Randy Harward, Entertainment Editor

“Euphoria” Season 3 (2019–2026)

Finally, after an extended hiatus, the youth crew from “Euphoria” is back on our TV sets (and phones). Season 1 was a critical darling and popular hit, but Season 2 didn’t quite hit, as the kids say. I’m excited to see which “Euphoria” shows up on April 12. —Mike Strayer, Managing Editor

“Hacks” (2021–2026)

After wrapping up six sweet seasons of Silicon Valley, I needed a new binge to keep the dopamine flowing. I gambled on this comedy series about an aging comedian whose career gets a boost when she starts working with a plucky young writer, and they form a tight, nuanced frenemy-ship. When I polish off the fifth and final season, I’ll be back to square one. Got any recs? (Tee-hee.) —Randy Harward, Entertainment Editor

Mortal Kombat Legends film series (2020–present)

This is one of those “I didn’t know this existed” picks because it instantly caught my attention in spite of not being a hardcore Mortal Kombat fan. Four animated films, four lazy Sundays in April? You had me at “Scorpion wins. Fatality!” —Mike Strayer, Managing Editor

Bonus recommendation: “Weapons” (2025)

Not an April release, but I’m still not over Zach Cregger’s (“Barbarian”) witchy movie where 17 schoolkids disappear at the hands of a clownish old hag (Amy Madigan, who won an Oscar for her role). I saw it on a Sunday in a theater and watched it again the following day on VOD, enjoying it even more the second time. If you haven’t seen “Weapons,” you’re missing out. —Randy Harward, Entertainment Editor
