How To Watch Five Nights at Freddy’s

After years in development, video game Five Nights at Freddy’s finally arrives as a big-budget horror movie this October, in both theaters and on-demand streaming. Here’s how you can watch it anywhere.

Five Nights at Freddys (Peacock)

If you’ve been wondering about all the hype surrounding the October movie premiere of Five Nights at Freddy’s, you’re probably not a gamer: Five Nights at Freddy’s began as a horror-themed video game in 2014, centered on a night security guard who keeps watch at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, a kiddie eatery with animatronic animal mascots.

Why would a pizza joint require overnight security? You’re already asking too many questions.

Anyway: The mascots come alive and malicious at night, forcing the security guard to defend himself by any means necessary. The wildly popular Five Nights at Freddy’s has since launched a universe of video games, books, and one blatant-but-entertaining ripoff movie (Willie’s Wonderland starring Nicholas Cage—check it out on Hulu or Crackle).

On Friday, October 27, the official Five Nights at Freddy’s film treatment finally arrives in theaters and on same-day streaming, just in time for Halloween. Here’s how you can watch it … if you dare.

The big Peacock picture

Not only is Peacock one of the last services to offer same-day streaming of theatrical releases, but it also has a fat library of classic and recent movies and TV shows. Check out our What To Watch on Peacock and Peacock Originals guides.

After years of delays—various film studios have been working on an adaptation since 2015—Five Nights at Freddy’s will finally premiere as a Blumhouse/Universal Pictures movie on Friday, October 27, 2023. In addition to a theatrical release (thanks for getting people back to the movie houses, Barbie), Five Nights at Freddy’s will also be available to stream the same day on Peacock.

Peacock offers two subscription plans, Premium ($5.99 a month, with ads) and Premium Plus ($11.99 a month, no ads). Besides being one of the last streamers to still offer same-day theatrical movie premieres, Peacock also carries over 80,000 hours of movie and TV content, including next-day NBC and Bravo shows, live local NBC feeds, and a growing slate of original series like Twisted Metal and Poker Face.

Peacock is also fast becoming a live sports destination, streaming MLB baseball, Premier League soccer, WWE pro wrestling, and other major franchise events. But, for movie fans who prefer not to leave the house, same-day theatrical releases like Five Nights at Freddy’s is still one of Peacock’s biggest selling points.
