Shopping for internet service in a small town can be a mixed bag, but Vyve Broadband provides a surprisingly strong customer experience. Vyve’s plans also have fast cable internet speeds and low prices, although its availability varies widely, and so it’s less likely to be in your area.

But if you’re in a town with Vyve coverage, we’d recommend the provider’s plans. With Vyve, you’ll get faster internet speeds compared to the typical DSL internet plans available to small-town and rural customers.

With its low prices and minimum download speeds of 100 Mbps, Vyve Broadband’s internet packages won’t break the bank, and you’ll still get great speeds.

Vyve 105 offers the best deal for most households. At $19.99 per month for maximum download speeds of up to 105 Mbps, you’ll be getting fast internet performance at a low price. If your house needs more internet speed, Vyve 200 is an affordable upgrade at only $39.99 per month.

Vyve 105’s first-year price is cheaper than Xfinity (around $20/mo. for 75 Mbps), and Vyve Gig is $20.00 cheaper than Spectrum’s comparable package ($89.99/mo. for 1 Gbps). In some Vyve markets, the ISP also offers a 500 Mbps plan that fills the gap between its Vyve 200 and Vyve Gig plans.

Plus, Vyve’s internet plans don’t require a contract, and your bill will increase by only $10.00 after your first year (although Vyve Gig has a $20.00 increase). We’re never fans of scheduled price increases, but Vyve’s regular prices are still reasonable for a cable ISP.

Vyve’s actual internet performance is a slight step behind its great prices. According to speed test data from HighSpeedInternet.com, Vyve had an average latency of 33.2 ms. Latency refers to how long it takes for internet data to reach its destination, and high latency negatively impacts tasks like video calls and online gaming.

Vyve’s latency mark is still okay since you won’t experience major internet problems with sub-40 ms latency, but it was behind larger cable ISPs like Cox and Xfinity. Both ISPs had average latency times of around 20 ms.

Vyve TV plans and prices

Packages Price* Channel Details
Get a Little $35.00/mo. 39+ View plan
Get a Lot $105.49/mo. 97+ View plan

*For the first 12 months.

Vyve’s basic package offers local channels like ABC for $35 per month along with your Vyve internet plan. We typically recommend buying a TV antenna to get these channels for free instead of paying for a local channel package.

With the Get a Lot plan, you’ll get popular cable channels like Food Network and ESPN for a sizable $105.49 per month. But Vyve also tacks on a $14.99 monthly equipment fee and $5.00 price increases after your first and second year of service. Additional channels like the Cooking Channel, NFL Network, and Disney XD are available only through Vyve’s Variety Tier channel add-on, which costs an additional $9.95 per month.

Vyve’s TV plans aren’t especially impressive because of their high prices and low channel counts, and we’d recommend buying an antenna or subscribing to a streaming TV service instead. But a Vyve internet and TV bundle could be an option if you’re getting TV service for a family member who’s used to traditional cable TV equipment.

Vyve availability

Vyve’s internet coverage focuses on rural and smaller cities. So you won’t be able to get Vyve broadband internet service in Dallas, but you can get the ISP’s plans in Dalhart, TX (population 7,930).

Vyve offers coverage in 16 states:

  • Alabama
  • Arkansas
  • California
  • Colorado
  • Georgia
  • Idaho
  • Kansas
  • Louisiana
  • North Carolina
  • Nebraska
  • Oklahoma
  • South Carolina
  • Tennessee
  • Texas
  • Washington
  • Wyoming

Like with most regional providers, Vyve’s availability gets spottier once you get into each state. For example, Vyve has coverage throughout Oklahoma and Nebraska, but once you get into Colorado or Washington, you’ll find coverage only in a handful of small towns.

But even if Vyve’s coverage map is a mixed bag, it’s still worth checking the ISP’s availability if you’re in a state with Vyve service and live outside of a major city.

Vyve doesn’t offer bundle discounts, so your most significant advantage with a Vyve service bundle will be the convenience of paying one bill per month. Some competitors like Xfinity will knock a few bucks off your bill when you bundle services.

Is Vyve Broadband worth it?

Despite its niche as a regional ISP, Vyve’s excellent prices and internet plans hold up surprisingly well compared to bigger competitors like Xfinity and Spectrum. Its availability is spotty outside of the Great Plains region, but Vyve is still a great deal if you’re in a city with Vyve coverage.
