Ever wanted to try Amazon Prime Video? If you’re curious to see what all the hype is about without committing to a monthly fee, try its 30-day free trial. 30 days is pretty long for a streaming service trial—most services only offer seven, if that—and you’ll get more than just its huge library of original and popular content.
With an Amazon Prime trial, you’ll also get all the perks of a Prime membership, including free two-day shipping. Unfortunately, if you want to cancel your trial, you’ll immediately lose access to all of these perks, including Prime Video.

I’ve read through Amazon’s policies, and I can tell you all the little details you’ll want to know about Amazon Prime’s free trial system. Join me, won’t you?
How do I get the Amazon Prime Video free trial?
To sign up for an Amazon Prime Video free trial, you’ll have to sign up for an Amazon Prime free trial. They’re considered one and the same. Head to the Amazon Prime website and click on the yellow button that says “Start your free 30-day trial.”
After the trial period ends, you’ll be charged $14.99/mo. If you’re not interested in all of the additional Prime benefits, you can downgrade to a Prime Video–only subscription for just $8.99/mo.
What does the Amazon Prime Video free trial include?
An Amazon Prime membership includes several perks, not just Prime Video. During your 30-day trial, you’ll receive access to:
- Free shipping on qualifying shipping (with generally faster delivery times)
- Free GrubHub+
- Amazon Photos
- Amazon Drive
- Amazon Music
- Prime Gaming
- Prime Reading
- Prime Try Before You Buy
- Prime Fuel Savings
- And of course, Prime Video.
As a thrifty gamer, I particularly enjoy the Prime Gaming perk. Many of the participating games are redeemable through a GOG code, which means you’ll be able to download a DRM-free copy of the game and keep it long after your Amazon Prime membership expires. And it’s rare to own digital content in 2025!
You can also share these benefits with Amazon Household. This is particularly handy for when you want to buy your partner a birthday present without them knowing but still want free, faster shipping. You can also share digital content like books, audiobooks, and games.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t appear that the free trial includes the optional ad-free add-on. That means that you’ll see ads on most Prime Video content and will be charged $14.99/mo. at the end of your trial period. If you want to get rid of (most of) the ads, you’ll have to upgrade to the $17.98/mo. plan.
How do I cancel my Amazon Prime Video free trial?
Canceling your free Amazon Prime trial is just like canceling a full membership. Amazon really doesn’t want you to go, so it will employ a few “are you sure?” pages to try to get you to stay or forget.
- On your computer, head to the Prime Membership page of Amazon’s website. (You can also find this page by hovering over the text saying “Hello [your name]” on the top right of any Amazon page).
- Click “End membership” and then “Continue to cancel.”
- If you don’t want to lose all of your benefits right away, you can set a reminder for three days before renewal.

You will lose access to all of your Prime benefits, including Prime Video, when you cancel your free trial, so be sure about your decision.
What other streaming services have free trials?
A lot of streaming services offer free trials, including Apple TV+, Hulu, and MGM+. (Heavy hitters like Netflix and Disney+ are a little more stingy). But not all trials are the same, and each comes with its own trial lengths and terms and conditions.
Let’s take a quick look at the free trial durations of some of the most popular streaming services.
