The seventh Annual Crunchyroll Anime Awards aired on Saturday, March 4, 2023. This year’s event was held in Japan for the first time, so Americans had to stay up very late or wake up early to catch it live at 4:30 a.m. ET.
Don’t worry, anime fans—you didn’t miss a thing. The awards will be available to stream on YouTube and Crunchyroll any time after the fact, so you can catch every award on your own schedule. And with guest presenters like Hunter Schafer, Finn Wolfhard, and Robert Rodriguez, this is one awards ceremony you’ll want to see.

The 2023 Crunchyroll Anime Awards aired on Crunchyroll’s YouTube page and Twitch stream at 4:30 a.m. ET on March 4. It was at a weird time for Americans because the ceremony actually takes place in Japan—and Crunchyroll takes its simulcasts very seriously.

2023’s Anime Awards Nominees
Now for the important part: the anime themselves! Anime eligible for this year’s awards originally aired anytime between November 2021 and September 2022. This means popular favorite Chainsaw Man, which aired in October, will have to wait until next year’s awards.
