Does Brightspeed have cable TV?
Brightspeed is an internet service provider (ISP) that doesn’t offer TV service. Instead, Brightspeed has partnered with MyBundle to integrate the latter’s streaming service recommendation tool onto the Brightspeed website.
The MyBundle tool allows current and potential Brightspeed internet customers to take a quiz about their streaming needs and claims to match respondents to the best streaming service for their household.
My initial questions were: Does this tool really work? And more importantly: Is it accurate, or are there better options out there? So I decided to do some research and hands-on testing to help determine if the quiz is worth the hassle—and if I think their recommendations are legit.

So, my general rule of thumb is: don’t blindly trust an online quiz to make your decisions for you. Would you let a BuzzFeed quiz tell you what car you should buy? (Well, maybe …)
But seriously, in our expert opinion, skip the tools that claim to match you to your perfect car/streaming service/credit card/whatever, and do your own research. That’s the best, most unbiased way to go about making a serious financial decision. If you choose to use a tool like MyBundle, I would say just use it as a jumping-off point before digging deeper into the fine print.

How to use the Brightspeed TV comparison tool
To get your personalized MyBundle streaming recommendations via Brightspeed, start on the Brightspeed homepage. Click the “Start Streaming” button at the top of the page, then click the yellow “Get started” button about halfway down the page. This’ll take you right into the MyBundle Quiz.
You’ll answer eight questions, which include how many people live at your household, what streaming services you already have, and what channels you need to have access to.

The first time I took the quiz, I answered accurately about my current situation (two adults with access to all four listed streaming services and no interest in live sports) and only chose three must-have channels (CNN, ID, and History—yes, I watch a lot of documentaries). I was recommended Sling TV, Philo, and DIRECTV Via Internet.
The image to the right shows the results from when I decided to retake the quiz. To get a better idea of how the recommendations worked, I answered differently for each question and chose over 10 needed channels. This time, two of the three recommendations were bundles of two streaming services, likely due to the high number of channels I listed as necessities.
It seems that hitting all your “must-have” channels is this tool’s priority. This is a double-edged sword that can be helpful but also limits you from seeing other, perhaps more affordable, options that may cut a channel or two that you think you need.

How accurate are the Brightspeed TV recommendation results?
After I took the quiz five more times using a buncha different answer combinations, I noticed a few patterns: The most common results were Sling TV, followed by DIRECTV via Internet (aka DIRECTV STREAM but with included equipment) and Philo. YouTube TV was recommended fewer times than I anticipated for being the best live TV streaming service out there. This could be because of the (randomized) answers I chose or a result or a recommendation algorithm; I’m not sure.
The recommendations themselves do have solid logic behind them. If I chose only a couple of desired channels, MyBundle recommended Sling TV or Philo—two streamers with relatively low channel counts. If I chose a bunch of channels, I’d get recommended DIRECTV Via Internet/STREAM, or a bundle of multiple different streamers and add-ons to hit those necessary channels.
In my opinion, the main issue of the tool is that it only recommends streaming services, not cable TV. Sure, traditional TV’s on the outs, but Verizon Fios’ More Fios TV plan would’ve given me all the channels I chose in my second quiz for $30 less than the Fubo + Sling TV bundle it recommended. Somethin’ to think about.
Is the Brightspeed TV quiz worth it?
So, should Brightspeed customers even take the time to fill out the MyBundle quiz for streaming recs? Honestly, it depends.
IMO, it really hinges on whether you know anything about live TV streaming services. The Brightspeed MyBundle quiz isn’t a bad way to go if you’re a newbie looking to get a quick rundown on multiple different services at once. But just don’t take the results as law. You’ll only see a few streamers in your results, and there are so many more great services to choose between (including traditional TV!)
Not to sound like a broken record, but again, I think doing your own research is the way to go. Our Best Live TV Streaming Services guide is a great start, with details on all the live TV streamers out there (not just three).
Good luck, and happy streaming!
