How to Change or Cancel Cox

We’ve found the information you need to pause, update, or end your Cox service.

Are you a Cox customer who’s heading out for vacation, moving out of state, or ready to cut the cord? Here’s what you’ll need to do to change your Cox subscription and make sure you’re not paying for services you don’t need.

Moving Cox service

If you’re moving, but your new place is still within Cox Communication’s 14-state coverage area, visit Cox’s moving page to start the service transfer process. You’ll be able to order new services, set up a service move date, and schedule an installation appointment at your new place.

Pausing Cox service

With the Cox Seasonal Program, residential customers can pause Cox services for between one and nine months. Instead of paying your full Cox bill, you’ll pay a reduced $9.99 monthly fee for each paused Cox service. You can set up a service pause by calling +1-866-936-7123 or visiting a Cox store.

Transferring Cox service

Contact Cox customer service or visit a Cox store to start the Cox account transfer process. Keep in mind that Cox has some limitations and can’t transfer things like service agreements and voice mail messages.

Adding to Cox service

Call Cox’s sales department at +1-844-486-0493, visit a Cox store, or use your Cox account to add new TV, phone, or internet plans to your subscription. Cox’s sales department is open from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. ET from Monday to Friday, and from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Canceling Cox service

Call Cox customer service at +1-800-234-3993 or visit your local Cox store to cancel your Cox TV or internet service. Cox’s retention department is open from 8:00 a.m. to 9 p.m. ET Monday through Friday and from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Before you cancel Cox service, you’ll want to check if you’re on the hook for any early termination fees (ETF) in your contract. Cox has a $120 ETF on one-year contracts and a $240 ETF on two-year contracts. Your ETF is lowered by $10 for every month remaining on your contract.

If you’re renting TV or internet hardware, you can send the equipment back at your local Cox branch or UPS Store.

Cox services come with a $120 cancellation fee on a one-year contract or a $240 fee on a two-year contract if you end service before your contract expires.

But your cancellation fee gets lowered by $10 for every month you stay on your contract. For example, your cancellation fee would go down by $60 after six months.
