What to look for with Cox deals and promotions
Don’t forget about your scheduled price hike
Cox’s advertised prices are temporary, typically lasting 24 months. Once your initial promotional period ends, your monthly rate will jump to the standard rate card pricing, which can increase your bill by up to $40. Yikes.
We prefer internet providers that’ve put temporary promotional pricing and price hikes by the wayside—like Verizon Fios and Google Fiber—so keep an eye on your contract timeline if you go with Cox (or pick a different provider).
Negotiate as an existing customer
Cox doesn’t advertise upgrade deals for current subscribers, but retention discounts exist. If your initial promo rate is expiring, call customer service and mention lower rates from regional competitors (or more widely available 5G home internet options like T-Mobile or Verizon). It never hurts to try!
Watch out for hidden fees
Base prices don’t always reflect your final bill. A Panoramic Wi-Fi gateway rental adds around $15.00 per month (unless it’s included in a promo), while Contour DVR service can cost up to $30.00 per month. Buying your own compatible modem/router can save you over $180 every year.

The cheapest Cox internet plan is Fast, which offers 300 Mbps download speeds for $55.00/mo.. Cox's most affordable TV plan is the Contour TV Starter package, with 75+ cable channels for $80.00/mo. The least expensive Cox TV and internet bundle is Fast + Contour TV Starter. With it, you get 75+ cable channels and 300 Mbps of internet download speed for $126.00 a month.
Does Cox offer senior discounts?
Cox doesn’t offer any senior discounts on service—but low-income households may qualify for Cox’s Connect2Compete program, which provides low-speed internet for $9.95 a month.
How much is Cox Basic Cable for seniors?
Cox's basic cable plan is Cox TV Lite ($20.00/mo.), which comes with 60 channels, including Food Network, HGTV, and the Discovery Channel.
Is Cox offering any deals?
