Soapy, Sexy, Trashy: The 8 Spiciest Episodes of ‘The Hunting Wives’

The 2025 debut of “The Hunting Wives” wasn’t meant to be a pop-culture event: STARZ offloaded the series after production wrapped, making it seem like just another Netflix TV series rescue that could be slipped into a summer slot with little notice. But when “The Hunting Wives” premiered in July of last year, fireworks popped. The show even earned a fall 2025 “Saturday Night Live” parody sketch, the surest sign of a viral hit.
“The Hunting Wives” is based on the novel of the same name by author May Cobb, set in a small East Texas town populated with audacious women socialites who welcome Boston transplant Sophie (Brittany Snow) into their cocktail-soaked circle. Local alpha cougar Margo (Malin Akerman) especially warms to Sophie, setting off sapphic sparks from the first episode.
It’s a soapy, sexy, trashy series that’s coming back for a second season on Thanksgiving Day—who needs football when there are more “Hunting Wives” sexcapades to be had? Before then, here are the spiciest episodes of season 1 to revisit on Netflix.

“Strange and Unfamiliar Places” (Season 1, Episode 1)
Despite an erotic introductory lesson in day drinking and skeet shooting from Margo, Sophie is still in the curious stage of bi-curiosity. Instead, we get Margo’s husband Jed (Dermot Mulroney) chilling with a pair of naked babes in his hot tub, and a scene where Margo sneakily watches Starr’s daughter’s boyfriend masturbate while the distracted daughter chastely prays. Can’t beat those Texas family values.
“Knockin’ Boots” (Season 1, Episode 2)
Speaking of masturbation, Sophie can’t help but help herself while scrolling through her new friend Margo’s Instagram feed. We also learn that Margo has been hooking up with Abby’s boyfriend, which makes Margo’s previous voyeurism … less creepy? Sure. There’s also a brief but sexy makeout scene between Margo and Callie (Jaime Ray Newman). Margo’s daily schedule is packed.
“Sunrise Tells the Story” (Season 1, Episode 3)
Turns out local Pastor Pete (Paul Teal) also has a firm grip on Margo’s Instagram, and we see a rare scene of Sophie putting the spurs to her husband Graham (Evan Jonigkeit) while obviously thinking of the very same ‘Gram. Also, Margo and Sophie share their first kiss during a game of spin the bottle, but Sophie ultimately has to settle for some hands-in-the-pants action with a teenage boy. Relax, it’s only episode three.
“Cheat Day” (Season 1, Episode 4)
Your patience is rewarded in episode 4, when Sophie finally moves on Margo in “The Hunting Wives'” sexiest and most anticipated scene, with all the eroticism and nudity allowed with a Netflix rating (though it happens all the time on the show’s intended network, STARZ — maybe now you’re considering subscribing). Sophie’s also detained for murder, so it’s a high/low kind of episode.
“Not Her First Rodeo” (Season 1, Episode 5)
Margo initiates a quickie with her husband Jed. Sorry, not all of the episodes are extra-spicy, but they’ll probably fix that in season two.
“Deep in the Heart of Texas” (Season 1, Episode 6)
No sexy times to speak of in this episode, either. If you’re following for the actual story, you won’t want to skip it, because … you’re already moving along, aren’t you?
“Shooting Star” (Season 1, Episode 7)
“The Hunting Wives” comes back hot and hard with one of the series’ most talked-about scenes: Callie, taking out some of her frustration from being ignored by Margo, takes her macho husband, Sheriff Jonny (Branton Box), to peg town while psyching him up to arrest Sophie—revenge is a dish best served from behind. For dessert, there’s also a scene of Margo going down on Sophie in a seedy hotel room.
“Sophie’s Choice” (Season 1, Episode 8)
In the first season finale, we get a flashback glimpse of Margo’s origin story with Jed: She was a broke trash panda hired for a threesome by Jed’s soon-to-be ex-wife, Sienna (Lauren Bowles). We’re also treated to a reunion romp with Margo and Sophie, who’s now dumped her hubby and been cleared of murder charges (there’s a plot going on in “The Hunting Wives” beyond the sex, promise).
“The Hunting Wives” season 2 premieres Thursday, Nov. 26, on Netflix. Maybe don’t watch it with the family.
