To get the most bang for your buck, we’d recommend subscribing to Max for your HGTV fix.

Although you won’t be able to watch new HGTV shows live as they air, Max typically has new episodes available to stream as early as the day after the broadcast.

Max offers dozens upon dozens of popular HGTV shows, including favorites like House Hunters, Love It or List It, Home Town, Flea Market Flip, and Property Brothers.

If you only care about watching HGTV shows, a cheaper option than Max is Discovery+. In 2023, Max acquired the majority of Discovery+’s offerings and integrated them into its service while still keeping Discovery+ active. Discovery+ offers all of the HGTV programming Max does for just $5.99–$9.99/mo..

That said, Max has a much larger content library that goes well beyond what Discovery+ offers, so if you want some acclaimed movies and prestige programming like The White Lotus to break up your Love It or List It binges, I’d pick Max.

Some current HGTV shows have been running for as long as I’ve been alive (looking at you, House Hunters), while some premiered as recently as this year. This mix of new and classic programming helps make HGTV an appealing channel for both new and returning viewers.
