What Paramount+ and CBS Shows Are Canceled? March 2026 Renewal Recap.

Milo Manheim looking worried in "School Spirits"

Paramount Global was pretty busy in March

Paramount Global announced some changes to its programming towards the end of March, including renewals and cancellations across Paramount+ and CBS. Disney did the same thing earlier in the month, but all eyes have been on Paramount Global ever since it made the ballsy move to buy Warner Bros. Discovery.

So how will Paramount’s recent acquisition affect its programming lineup? Luckily, some of our favorites are safe, but some newer titles are on the chopping block. Let’s review everything we’ve learned in the last couple of weeks.

Renewed at Paramount+: “School Spirits” Season 4

The third season of “School Spirits” just wrapped up on March 4, and we already know it’s returning for a fourth one. Paramount seems pretty confident in its supernatural teen drama, and we often recommend it as one of the best titles on Paramount+.

And yes, I do think every entertainment journalist is waiting to make a joke about how the show is “dead” once it does end. It’s about ghosts, after all.

Renewed for syndication: “Entertainment Tonight” and “Inside Edition”

“Entertainment Tonight” and “Inside Edition” have been renewed for another season of syndication, so you’ll continue to see them both pop up on your local channels.

This news comes right after NBCUniversal canceled “Access Hollywood,” a competing program that also covered entertainment news and celebrity gossip. Experts have been wondering if its cancellation is a death knell for syndicated television, but apparently, Paramount Global isn’t giving up on the format yet.

Canceled at Paramount+: “Star Trek: Starfleet Academy”

“Star Trek: Starfleet Academy” just wrapped up its first season on March 12, and Paramount+ has good and bad news for its fans. The good news is that the show will return for a second season. The bad news is that the second season will be its last.

If you’re looking to fill that spaceship-sized hole in your heart, you can expect two more seasons of “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” down the line. And beyond that … well, Trek might just become part of Warner Bros., so maybe you’ll see the next big spinoff airing on whatever replaces HBO Max.

Canceled at CBS: “Watson”

“Sherlock Holmes” adaptations just don’t hit the way they used to. Or maybe “Watson” just deviated too much from the formula. “Watson” focuses on Dr. Watson all by himself as he plays “detective” to “solve” illnesses at a hospital. It’s a medical drama disguised as a detective show. (Just like “House,” as many of the comments on this trailer point out.)

Or at least it was—”Watson” will air its final episode on May 3.

Canceled at CBS: “DMV”

The Department of Motor Vehicles is no more. Well, the workplace comedy is, at least. “DMV” has been cancelled at CBS, and will air its series finale on May 11. Unfortunately, it looks like it failed to resonate with audiences. Variety argued that it got better as it went on, but comedies in 2026 don’t get the same benefit of the doubt or the same large episode counts that old workplace sitcoms did. If a show doesn’t perform right out of the gate, it’s usually doomed.

Sorry, “DMV” fans. And “The Paper” fans. And “Blockbuster” fans.
