Disney+ Adds Free Live College Football — Here’s How to Watch for Less

You can score live college football games on Disney+ this fall

Even if you’re not the type to spend your fall weekends glued to football games, having free access to some big matches isn’t a perk to turn your nose up at.

ESPN announced yesterday that Disney+ will stream select college football games every Saturday this fall. This is a totally free bonus for Disney+ subscribers, giving them big ESPN and ABC matchups within their existing Disney+ app, no pricey add-ons or extra channels needed. Disney teased this earlier this month, announcing that a main part of its current strategy is to increase live sports content.

I don’t get excited for college sports ’til basketball starts (I’m a UNC alum, can you blame me for skipping over football season?), so to check the consensus on this deal among die-hard college football fans, I dove into some Reddit threads. Word on the r/CFB streets is that while real fans likely already have ESPN access, this is a killer freebie for casual Disney+ subscribers. Plus, as a few users pointed out, having live games on Disney+ is a handy backup option if carriage disputes ever temporarily black out regular live TV services like YouTube TV (again).

Keep reading for more details on how this new streaming perk works, plus how you can stack it with existing discounts to pay even less.

Pair live sports with Disney+’s best streaming discounts

While standard Disney+ subscribers get these bonus games at no extra cost, you can stretch your buck even further by bundling. Folks who want full access to live sports, original series, and game replays should opt for the discounted Trio bundle, which includes Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN Select. And real sportsballs should upgrade to the Disney+ bundle with ESPN Unlimited — but then you wouldn’t even need these free games, since ESPN Unlimited includes live linear feeds of ESPN’s entire family of networks!

If you’re currently a college student, you can save even more. The brand-new Disney+ and Hulu student bundle knocks 50% off the regular (already discounted) bundle price, giving students both services for just $6.49 a month. This is perfect for casual college sports fans who’ll get their football fix with these free games, but don’t need an entire ESPN subscription.

Need more than just two games a week? While this Disney+ deal is great, hardcore college football fans who don’t wanna miss a single play should check out our guide to the Best Streaming Services for Sports to find their ultimate fall streaming setup.
