Can’t Make It to Chicago? Stream Lollapalooza This Weekend

Forgot to book your tickets to Chicago for Lollapalooza? Fear not! Hulu will stream sets from the music festival all weekend, so you don’t miss the action.
While the entire festival won’t be live-streamed, you can see headliners, including Billie Eilish, Odesza, and The 1975. However, there will be no on-demand viewing, so you have to watch the festival live or miss out on the performances until bootlegs appear on YouTube.

Lollapalooza isn’t the only festival live streaming on Hulu this year. Bonnaroo aired in June, and Austin City Limits will take place in October.
How to watch Lollapalooza 2023
The easiest way to watch Lollapalooza is by tuning in to Hulu. The streaming service will be airing two channels of Lollapalooza coverage, showcasing over 70 musical artists! (Check out the full schedule below.)
Accessing the live stream requires a Hulu or Hulu (No Ads) base plan subscription and is only available during the set times listed. That means you can’t go back and watch your favorite sets on-demand—it’s live or nothing.
Head to Hulu’s Lollapalooza page and click the “Watch Now” button to watch.
Hulu is also the exclusive home for streaming Bonnaroo and Austin City Limits this year.
What is Lollapalooza?
Lollapalooza began in 1991 as a touring festival by Perry Farrell, lead singer of Jane’s Addiction. But now, over 30 years later, it’s one of the biggest festivals in the world and has run annually in Chicago since 2005.
While its home base is still in Chicago, Lollapalooza has gone to Santiago, Chile; Brandenburg, Germany; São Paulo, Brazil; Buenos Aires, Argentina; Berlin, Germany; Paris, France; Stockholm, Sweden; and Mumbai, India.
Over 400,000 people are at Lollapalooza in Chicago this weekend. It is one of the biggest U.S. music festivals, along with Coachella, Bonnaroo, and Austin City Limits. The festival began streaming on Hulu after its virtual edition in 2020.
Who is playing Lollapalooza this year?
Headliners at Lollapalooza this year include Billie Eilish, Karol G, The 1975, Odesza, and Tomorrow x Together. The acts will be spread across Grant Park—from the Bud Light stage to the T-Mobile stage.
While eight acts are headlining Lollapalooza, only five will be available to stream on Hulu. We don’t know why Kendrick Lamar, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Lana Del Rey won’t be streaming, but it’s not unusual for some headliners to opt out of live streams.
For example, last year at Glastonbury, audiences at home couldn’t stream Sir Paul McCartney’s iconic set. Meanwhile, those of us in the U.S. can’t watch any Glastonbury live streams because the BBC blocks live streams outside the U.K. However, there are VPN options for non-U.K. viewers.
In addition to the headliners, major artists will be live-streamed on Hulu across two channels, including:
- Carly Rae Jepsen
- Diplo
- Sofi Tukker
- Portugal. The Man
- Fred Again…
- Sabrina Carpenter
- Pusha T
- Sylvan Esso
- The Backseat Lovers
- A Boogie Wit da Hoodie
- Rina Sawayma
For the full schedule, check out Hulu’s Lollapalooza page.
Can I stream other music festivals this year?
Yes! Three major music festivals—Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, and Austin City Limits—stream exclusively on Hulu this year. (While this is Lollapalooza weekend, Bonnaroo was in June, and Austin City Limits will be in October.)
None of the performances are available to watch on-demand, though. You have to be logged in and watching the right Hulu channel to catch the performances. There are two specific Lollapalooza streaming channels this year. However, many past performances are posted on YouTube after the festival.
If you’re looking beyond those three festivals, you’re in luck! Twitch streamed New York City’s Governor’s Ball Music Festival earlier this year; Coachella and Pitchfork Music Festival opted for YouTube; Dreamville Festival and Rolling Loud Miami aired on Prime Video; and other festivals have streamed on their own websites. And, as we mentioned above, Glastonbury airs exclusively in the U.K. on BBC iPlayer.
