‘Sonic 4’ Just Found Its Amy Rose and a Release Date

Check out the Sonic 4 release date, trailer, and more.

The countdown is on: “Sonic 4” comes out in less than a year

The Sonic the Hedgehog franchise has pulled in a lot of golden rings at the box office, with the third installment crossing nearly $500 million and proving that audiences haven’t tired of the blue blur. After the dramatic introduction of Keanu Reeves as Shadow, fans have been desperate to know if the series would continue its hot streak.

The wait for confirmation is over. Following the title reveal teaser that dropped on March 19, 2026, we now have a firm window for the next adventure. And while James Marsden (our favorite Donut Lord) is back, he’s bringing some heavy hitters from “Nobody Wants This,” “Parks and Recreation,” and “The IT Crowd” with him.

Instead of just one rival, the fourth film looks to be diving deep into the Sonic CD lore, pitting Sonic against his most dangerous mechanical mirror yet. Here is everything you need to know about the release date, the star-studded new cast, and those game-changing post-credits teases.

What is “Sonic the Hedgehog 4” about?

While official plot summaries are firmly under wraps, the first teaser and the “Sonic 3” post-credits scenes have painted a clear picture. The film will introduce Metal Sonic, a cold, silent, and deadly AI replica of Sonic who believes he is the real version.

The story also brings in Amy Rose (voiced by Kristen Bell), the fan-favorite pink hedgehog, who was teased saving Sonic from a legion of “Metals” in a futuristic forest setting. Fans are already theorizing a time-travel plot inspired by the 1993 classic Sonic CD, which could see Sonic running so fast he enters a bad future ruled by Dr. Robotnik.

Speaking of the Doctor … yes, the trailer confirms that Jim Carrey is once again defying retirement to return as the villainous Eggman.

“Sonic the Hedgehog 4” release date

Paramount has officially scheduled “Sonic 4” to hit theaters on Friday, March 19, 2027. This follows the franchise’s successful trend of spring and holiday releases, giving the production team a full year of principal photography, which began this month.
