Sony Teases New ‘Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse’ Images, Release Date

A new look at the end of the ‘Spider-Verse’ trilogy

We’re still over a year out from its new June 18, 2027 release date, but Sony just dropped a “Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse” sneak peak alongside its slate of CinemaCon announcements.

The lucky few in the room at CinemaCon got to watch some test footage from the beginning of the movie, featuring Miles Morales as he interacts with the bizarre alternate universe version of The Prowler. And Sony dropped a few goodies for us mere mortals as well.

The franchise’s social accounts just posted four new images, teasing four moments from throughout the film. Let’s check them out!

Brand new images from CinemaCon

In the first newly released image, Spider-Man 2099, a.k.a. Miguel O’Hara, is deep in a fight with Miles Morales’s Spider-Man. This fight is a long time coming—after all, their beef was never resolved at the end of “Across the Spider-Verse.”

In this next image, we see younger versions of Miles’s uncle and father. I think it’s clear that this is some sort of flashback—neither man has that much hair in the present day—but I’m unsure if it takes place in Miles’s own universe or the alternate one that he travelled to at the end of the second movie.

Spider-Punk is one of my favorite Spider-Man variants, and the only one of Miles’s spider-allies we see in these new images. Here’s hoping he sticks around for a significant chunk of the movie this time—and that Daniel Kaluuya’s “Spider-Punk” spinoff eventually comes to fruition.

An emotional moment between Miles Morales and his dad in front of a sunset.

This final image depicts Miles and his dad having an emotional moment. A lot of the “Spider-Verse” series focuses on the relationship between Miles and his dad, Jefferson Morales. I’m just wondering if this scene takes place after Spider-Punk helps Miles save his dad, as teased in the previous image, or whether this is another flashback.

Catch up before ‘Beyond the Spider-Verse’

As of writing, the two previous “Spider-Verse” movies are available on different streaming services. You can find the first film, “Into the Spider-Verse,” streaming on Netflix, and the second, “Across the Spider-Verse,” streaming on Disney+.

Just be warned: While “Into the Spider-Verse” is a complete film, “Across the Spider-Verse” is essentially half of one, and ends on a cliffhanger. If you haven’t seen it already, you might want to watch it in 2027 to cut down on the agonizing wait time.
