Liverpool and Newcastle United will clash in the 2025 EFL Carabao Cup Final at Wembley Stadium this Sunday, March 16. U.S. fans can stream the match live on Paramount+ at 12:30 p.m. ET.
This weekend’s final marks English football’s first major trophy contest of the year. Liverpool secured its spot with a 4–1 aggregate win over Tottenham Hotspur, while Newcastle advanced after two convincing 2–0 victories against Arsenal.
In this guide, I’ll outline how to stream the cup final for free and what to expect from the matchup.

Carabao Cup Final 2025 preview: Liverpool vs. Newcastle United
For the first time, Liverpool and Newcastle United will face off in the EFL Cup Final. Sunday’s game comes just over two weeks after Liverpool handed Newcastle a 2–0 defeat in the Premier League. But this final presents a new challenge, as Newcastle will look to end a 70-year-long trophy drought.
Liverpool has a League Cup legacy to uphold
Liverpool enters this weekend’s EFL Cup title match as the tournament’s defending champion with a storied record: 10 trophies in 14 finals. With recent wins against Chelsea in 2022 and 2024, the Reds have firmly established themselves as the most successful club in the competition. And you know they’re eager to add an 11th League Cup to their trophy room.
Unfortunately, LFC’s recent Champions League setback casts a shadow on the team’s form. Liverpool endured a tough UCL defeat at Anfield against PSG on Tuesday that went to extra time and penalties, leaving the squad battered and fatigued. With defender Trent Alexander-Arnold doubtful to appear, Liverpool’s attacking stars must be in top form on Sunday to avoid going home empty-handed.
I expect Mohamed Salah (who missed last year’s final due to injury) will be eager to get on the scoresheet and secure another League Cup for the Reds.

Newcastle’s resilient quest for silverware
Newcastle United returns to Wembley determined to break a trophy drought that dates back to the 1955 FA Cup. After a runner-up finish in the 2023 EFL Cup Final, the Magpies are showing signs of growth under new ownership. Forward Alexander Isak, recently named Carabao Cup Player of the Round after standout semifinal performances, is in fine form and likely to lead the charge on Sunday.
Despite a promising run so far, Newcastle faces significant challenges heading into the final. Defensive issues loom large, with Anthony Gordon suspended and key center backs unavailable, forcing manager Eddie Howe to reshuffle the back line. With Liverpool’s potent attack waiting, Newcastle will need a disciplined defensive performance to secure a historic victory.
Newcastle United are competing in this weekend's final for the third time in their history.
