Is the Paramount Plus Free Trial Really Free?

Asking yourself, "Is the Paramount+ free trial legit?" I looked into everything you need to know about it, including how to cancel and what to binge.

Does Paramount Plus have a free trial?

Paramount+ does offer a free trial that lets you explore its massive collection of movies, TV shows, and live sports. I think it’s the perfect way to decide if the streaming service meets your entertainment needs. But before you dive in, there are a few things I found out that you need to know.

For starters, the trial length might depend on how you sign up. Also, you must provide your credit card info to start the free trial.

But don’t worry because there’s no charge if you cancel before the trial ends. Even better, you’ll get to stream premium hits like Tulsa King and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds without committing to a long-term subscription.

What does the Paramount Plus free trial include?

The Paramount+ free trial gives you full access to every show, movie, and live event available with the plan you choose. For the ultimate trial experience, I recommend the Paramount+ with SHOWTIME plan. It adds SHOWTIME’s premium library of series and movies, plus live 24/7 access to your local CBS station. While it costs over 60% more per month than the Essential plan, you can explore a detailed breakdown of both plans on our Essential vs. SHOWTIME page.

Unsure of where to start your binge-watching journey? Our What To Watch on Paramount+ guide highlights some of its best shows and movies, including exclusive series like 1883 and Evil and blockbuster movies from Paramount Pictures. Also, I’ve written some guides that go deep into live sports on Paramount+, like the NFL and the UEFA Champions League. Check ’em out.

Pro tip: I recommend starting your free trial around a major sporting event, TV finale, or holiday break to get the most out of your experience.

How do I cancel my Paramount Plus free trial?

In my years of testing streaming services, Paramount+ is one of the easiest to cancel. To cancel your Paramount+ free trial, log in to your account on a web browser and follow these steps:

  1. Go to your Account page at paramountplus.com/account
  2. Scroll down and click Cancel Subscription
  3. Follow the prompts to confirm your cancelation

Can I cancel my Paramount Plus free trial without paying?

When you cancel a Paramount+ free trial, it stays active until the end of the trial period. Technically, you could cancel shortly after signing up to avoid forgetting later and still enjoy the full trial length. But that’s if you don’t intend to stick around.

How to cancel my Paramount Plus free trial on Roku

Canceling your Paramount+ free trial on Roku only adds one extra step: sign in at my.roku.com or go to your Roku device home screen on your smart TV.

Once you’re there, you can manage your subscription by either clicking into the menu (browser window) or highlighting the Paramount+ channel and clicking the “*” button on your Roku remote (smart TV).

How to cancel my Paramount Plus free trial through Amazon Prime Video

The same goes for Prime Video. All you gotta do is log in to your Amazon account on your computer or smartphone, navigate to “Account & Setting,” and manage your subscriptions. Easy peasy.

Does Paramount Plus have a 30-day free trial?

The standard Paramount+ trial length is seven days, but 30-day free trials pop up occasionally through promo codes or third-party services. For instance, Walmart+ sometimes offers a free 30-day Paramount+ Essential trial, though you’ll miss out on Paramount+ with SHOWTIME content.

These promotions change frequently, so head to our Paramount+ Deals page for the most up-to-date information (my teammate Logan updates it monthly).

Does Paramount Plus have a 3-month free trial?

You may have seen this rumor swirling around the edges of the internet: Paramount+ offers a three-month free trial. As far as I can tell, the Paramount+ three-month free trial is as real as a unicorn or a jackalope.

Basically, you’d need to string together three 30-day trials through three separate third-party services to achieve it. Finding three 30-day free trial promos through three services you actually want sounds damn near impossible (good luck), but even if by some miracle you did, it seems like too much time and money wasted on unnecessary services to justify it. (See this Reddit thread for examples.)

The only reliable way to get three months free of Paramount+ that I know of is to sign up for select DIRECTV or DIRECTV STREAM plans, which, by the way, will also end up costing you a pretty penny in the long run. I say stick with the standard seven-day trial, which gives you plenty of time to test the Paramount+ app or allows you to stream a one-off live event like the Grammys.

What other streaming services have free trials?

Several on-demand streaming services offer free trials with varying trial lengths. Paramount+ competitors like Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, and MGM+ are often active in the free trial game, making it easy to test their platforms risk-free.

Here’s a quick overview of popular on-demand streaming services featuring free trials.
