Xfinity Offers StreamSaver, Peacock Deals Ahead of 2024 Summer Olympics

Xfinity bundles streaming services just in time for the Olympics

Peacock will be the streaming home for the 2024 Summer Olympics when they open in Paris on Friday, July 26. If you’re shopping for internet service and on the fence about Peacock, Xfinity is making it really easy to sign up for the streamer.

Xfinity has spun up a handful of new deals that feature Peacock and its new StreamSaver (ad-supported Netflix, Peacock Premium, Apple TV+) bundle.

Is StreamSaver worth it for the Olympics?

For Olympics fans, Peacock Premium will likely be the key attraction in the StreamSaver bundle—NOW TV lacks live NBC broadcasts and other Olympics channels, while Apple TV+ and Netflix are simply for regular streaming. Although Peacock has dialed back the number of deals it offers to new customers, it’s continued to lean into bundle offerings for existing Xfinity customers, and qualifying Xfinity internet or TV customers can still get free Peacock Premium.

The 2024 Summer Olympics will also be the biggest stage yet for NBCUniversal’s streamer, as it’ll be the exclusive way to live stream every Olympics event—NBC and other NBCUniversal channels will broadcast only select events.

Can the Olympics deliver for Peacock?

However, Peacock remains a work in progress for Comcast. The streamer has yet to reach profitability, and its 34 million paid subscribers lag behind competitors like Paramount+ and Max.

But despite Peacock’s midsized customer base, it’s continued to invest heavily in live sports exclusives like the Olympics. Peacock has previously snagged premium live sports like NFL, college football, and Premier League games thanks to NBC’s clout. Although it’s frustrating for fans, these exclusives have benefited Peacock’s bottom line. After last year’s Peacock-exclusive NFL game, Peacock gained an additional 3 million paid subscribers.

Xfinity’s StreamSaver bundle is one of the better deals we’ve seen from the telco giant, and it’ll be one of Comcast’s biggest ways to drive new Peacock subscribers ahead of the Olympics and football season. If we had to bet, Olympics fans likely don’t love adding another streaming subscription to their lineup to get full Summer Olympics coverage. But if Peacock can create subscriber gains with the 2024 Summer Olympics, it could bode well for the streamer’s success over the coming months.
