What to look for with Philo deals
Essential vs. Bundle+ tiers
Due to recent changes in Philo’s plan structure, new users will now need to choose between the Essential and Bundle+ packages. The Essential plan is best for folks who want Philo’s live TV offerings (70+ live channels and thousands of on-demand titles) at the lowest price point. However, the new Bundle+ tier provides a better deal for most streamers; it has everything in the Essential plan, plus access to HBO Max, discovery+, and AMC+.
When deciding between Philo’s plans, look at the total cost of any standalone subscriptions you already pay for, since the Bundle+ price is significantly lower than paying for those services and live TV separately.
Philo promo codes
Whenever I’m shopping online, I always Google for the retailer or provider name plus “promo code” or “coupon code” (sometimes throwing in the month/year too). I won’t always find a discount, but every now and then, I hit the jackpot.
I’ve scored discounts for Philo in the past, so definitely do a quick search before you pay full price. You might just snag a sweet limited-time deal.
Build your own bundle
In our guide to the best Streaming Bundles to Replace Cable, we show you how to make an affordable custom bundle with Philo TV. The idea is to combine a Philo subscription with an over-the-air (OTA) TV antenna and all the free ad-supported TV (FAST) services you want. Here’s how the “Thrifty Bundle” works:
- Philo subscription ($33.00/mo.): 70+ live TV channels, plus the AMC+ streaming service, which includes on-demand content from AMC, IFC Films Unlimited, Shudder, Sundance Now, and The Walking Dead.
- OTA antenna ($25–$70): Antennas cost only $25–$70, are super easy to install, and pull in all your local channels and subchannels.
- FAST services (free): Tubi is the best. The Roku Channel ain’t bad. Neither are PLEX, Pluto TV, Shout! Factory, Xumo Play—and they’re all yours for nothin’.
The Thrifty Bundle has the same monthly payment as Philo a la carte ($33.00/mo.). Your only other expense is the one-time antenna cost. That’s an amazing deal for 70+ Philo channels, your local channels, and the deep AMC+ on-demand library. Plus, the FAST services add hundreds more live channels and tons of on-demand content.
