What channels do you get with Philo?

Philo’s channel lineup is all about entertainment and lifestyle networks, with a dash of news (like BBC World News) and science (the Science channel, of course).

There are no sports or local channels, but if you love your TLC, Investigation Discovery, and Hallmark (a rare find in live TV streaming) to the point of obsession, you probably won’t even notice.

Why you should trust us: Our streaming TV experts have done hundreds of hours of research and hands-on testing of Philo and other live TV streaming services, evaluating them on bang for your buck, reliability, features, and customer satisfaction. For more on our methodology, check out our How We Rank page.

Besides, carrying sports and local channels is expensive—excluding them is how Philo keeps the price down to $28.00/mo. (hence our Editor’s Choice award for cheapest live TV streaming service). You can invest those savings in Philo premium add-ons—or a nice box of wine. Cozy up on the couch, and marathon your favorite house-hunting, cooking, and murder shows. Go ahead, you’ve earned it.

Pro tip: Philo now includes the AMC+ streaming service, which gives Philo subscribers access to on-demand content from AMC, IFC Films Unlimited, Shudder, Sundance Now, and The Walking Dead.

You’ll need a fast internet plan to stream all that TV

Philo premium add-on channels

In addition to free access to AMC+, Philo offers two premium add-on channels, STARZ and MGM+. Not coincidentally, they’re also the least expensive premium channel add-ons because that’s how Philo rolls. For comparison, YouTube TV offers all five of the premium channels below, while Sling TV features over 30 add-on packages.

Philo also offers the Movies & More multi-channel package—featuring Fandor, FMC, HDNet Movies, MOVIES!, REELZ, and Sony Movies for $3 a month.

Premium channel Price Includes

Philo channels FAQ

What channels are available on Philo TV?

Philo’s single live TV streaming plan carries 70+ channels, including A&E, AMC, Comedy Central, Paramount Network, Nickelodeon, TLC, HGTV, Food Network, Hallmark, Lifetime, and VICE. Philo’s focus is on entertainment and lifestyle channels, with no sports or local channels.

Does Philo carry local channels?

Unlike live TV streaming services like YouTube TV and Hulu + Live TV, Philo doesn’t carry local channels—broadcast affiliates for ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, PBS, The CW, and Telemundo. If you want to receive these channels, you can get them for free over the air with a digital antenna.

What is the downside of Philo TV?

Philo’s biggest downside is its lack of sports and local channels—and near lack of news (it’s BBC World News only for Philo subscribers). The entertainment and lifestyle channels Philo does carry will occupy your mind, but you’ll miss out on live sports as well as local, national, and world news.

Can you add channels to Philo?

In addition to free AMC+, which includes IFC Films Unlimited, Shudder, Sundance Now, and The Walking Dead, Philo offers two premium channel add-ons: STARZ ($11 monthly) and MGM+ ($7 monthly). It also offers a Movies & More multi-channel package, which includes Sony Movies, REELZ, and Fandor for $3 a month.

Is Hulu or Philo better?

Hulu + Live TV offers 95+ cable and local channels—plus it has tons of on-demand content. Philo is niche by comparison, but it’s one of the cheapest live TV streaming services. Read our Hulu vs. Philo review for a thorough comparison.

Which is better: Philo or Sling TV?

Both Philo and Sling TV are affordable live TV streaming services. But Philo has more entertainment and lifestyle channels, while Sling TV is a better fit for sports fans and anyone wanting more news channels than just BBC World News. Read our complete Sling TV vs. Philo review to learn more.
