The Golden State Valkyries entered their inaugural WNBA season with the usual expansion-team questions, but they’ve answered most of them with grit, depth, and a fast-developing identity. Led by head coach Natalie Nakase, the Valkyries have dove into the mix with a balanced, defense-first approach that’s already earned them wins over playoff-caliber teams like the Aces, Storm, and Fever.
Anchored by veterans Kayla Thornton, Tiffany Hayes, and Monique Billings, Golden State has found early chemistry with a roster built through the expansion draft and savvy offseason moves. Point guard Veronica Burton has emerged as a two-way leader, while rookie Carla Leite and sharpshooter Kate Martin have added energy and spacing off the bench. The team’s rebounding and opponent FG% are among the league’s best, helping them stay competitive even against more established squads.
After securing key victories, the Valkyries have crossed over from a feel-good story to a legitimate playoff threat. And if their cohesion continues to build, they might just crash the postseason party ahead of schedule.

Best TV plans for watching the Golden State Valkyries
Whether you’re repping the Bay or cheering from afar, there are plenty of ways to follow the Golden State Valkyries this season.
I have a few good services for you to consider, but to make it short and sweet, I’d say YouTube TV is the best all-around setup, especially when paired with WNBA League Pass.
The Valkyries are featured on national networks like CBS, CBSSN, NBA TV, and ION. That means you’ll get full coverage of all 17 nationally televised matchups and every local broadcast, all in one place. Plus, you get local Bay Area coverage via KPIX and KPYX if you’re in-market.
The only exception is the three Valkyries games that are exclusive to Amazon Prime Video, so you’ll need a separate Prime Video subscription to complete your setup.
For fans outside Northern California, League Pass is your go-to for out-of-market games and full replays. Just keep in mind that nationally and locally televised games are subject to blackouts. But they’re usually available to rewatch shortly after the final buzzer.
Which TV providers carry the Golden State Valkyries?
For the most part, your major TV providers will get you in the game for Valkyries basketball. But how many matchups you actually see depends on your location and whether you’ve got Prime Video in the mix.
Listed below, you’ll find a comprehensive breakdown of popular services and whether they carry the main WNBA channels. Make sure you add Amazon Prime Video for those three exclusive Valkyries games this season.
