How To Watch St. John’s Red Storm Men’s Basketball in 2025

✦ Edited and fact-checked by Junior Sports Writer Alex Vejar, who has covered sports for more than 10 years.

A new era, new expectations (and a new TV deal)

What a difference two years of Rick Pitino makes. St. John’s didn’t just return to relevance last season; the program stormed to its first Big East Tournament Championship in 25 years.

But with 11 newcomers, this season is the ultimate chemistry experiment. The Johnnies are now anchored by Zuby Ejiofor, and fueled by the  No. 1-ranked transfer portal class in the nation, featuring stars like Joson Sanon, Oziyah Sellers, and Dylan Darling. St. John’s is expected not just to win, but to reach the Final Four.

Keeping up with this reloaded squad now requires a completely new game plan for fans. The Big East’s new six-year media rights deal is officially here, and it’s complicated. Games are now split across a wide array of channels, including CBS, FOX, FS1, TNT, and truTV. On top of that, a significant number of exclusive, must-see matchups are on Peacock Premium.

This new TV landscape is a lot to track, especially when you just want to see how the new pieces fit. That’s why I’ve built this guide. My goal is to break down exactly how to watch St. John’s basketball in 2025–2026, finding the simplest and most cost-effective way to get all the channels you need for this historic season.

2025–2026 St. John’s men’s basketball TV schedule

The season tips off at Carnesecca Arena on Monday, November 3, against Quinnipiac, but it gets serious fast. The Red Storm are playing a record 13 games at their true home, Madison Square Garden, including massive non-conference tests against Alabama (Nov. 8) and Ole Miss (Dec. 6). I’m personally circling December 13, when Pitino faces his former Iona team at MSG, and the December 20 neutral-site clash with Kentucky.

Conference play starts December 16 against DePaul, but all eyes are on the February slate. The Storm host rival UConn at the Garden on February 6 before Pitino coaches against his son, Richard, and Xavier on February 9. The regular season all leads up to the Big East Tournament, which returns to MSG from March 11–14, 2026.

Best TV plans for watching St. John’s men’s basketball

The new Big East deal makes it tough to get every single game in one place. To get 100% coverage for the 2025-2026 season, you need a service that provides your local CBS and FOX affiliates, plus the national sports cable channels FS1, TNT, and truTV.

My top recommendation for that plan is Hulu + Live TV. The service typically carries all the necessary local and cable channels, which gets you the bulk of the schedule. From there, you just need to add Peacock Premium for those exclusive games. HBO Max streams games on TNT and truTV, but that’s not a must if you get the Hulu plan.

How to watch St. John’s men’s basketball FAQ

Where can I watch St. John's men's basketball for free?

Watching for free is very difficult under the new TV deal. Your best bet is to use a free trial for Hulu + Live TV, which gets you most of the channels you need for the season. You can also use a high-quality over-the-air (OTA) digital antenna to pick up any games broadcast on your local CBS and FOX.

How can I stream St. John's basketball without cable?

To stream every St. John's game, you need a two-part setup. First, get a live TV streaming service (like YouTube TV or Hulu + Live TV) that carries CBS, FOX, FS1, TNT, and truTV. Second, you must add a standalone Peacock Premium subscription for its exclusive Big East games.

Can I watch St. John's basketball on HBO Max?

Yes, any St. John's basketball game airing on TNT and truTV will also stream on HBO Max. But you'll need a Standard or Premium plan to watch live sports there.

What's the best way to watch St. John's during the Big East Tournament?

The 2026 Big East Tournament (March 11–14) will be broadcast on FOX and FS1. The easiest way to watch the entire competition is with a FOX One subscription, as it includes both channels for just $19.99/mo. But most live TV services will also have you covered.
