Since the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP)’s expiration at the end of May 2024, many internet providers have been revamping their affordable home internet packages.
To our advantage, they’re filling the low-income internet gap left by the federally funded ACP—and Xfinity is one of them.
Xfinity has replaced their previous ACP packages with two new Xfinity Internet Essentials packages, which provide affordable internet to qualifying low-income households.
Read on to learn package details and how to qualify for Internet Essentials.

Xfinity’s Internet Essentials initiative offers two plans for qualifying low-income households. The basic Internet Essentials plan comes with 75 Mbps download speeds for only $14.95/mo. The 75 Mbps download speeds is a sufficient amount to sustain a small household that surfs the web and lightly streams shows. And for less than fifteen bucks a month, its price cannot be beat.
Keep in mind that at this nice, low price, you won’t receive download speeds that will never give you issues when too many devices are connected to the internet. As long as you have your patience hat on, the $15 price tag will be worth it.
If your budget allows, you can pay $15 more per month for Xfinity Internet Essentials Plus, which’ll give you 25 Mbps faster upload speeds and 10 Mbps faster download speeds. 25 Mbps isn’t a huge jump, but we say it’s worth it if you can afford the extra cost.
Xfinity provides excellent service and is reliable and affordable. I have no dislikes.

Is Xfinity Internet Essentials worth it?
If you or your household is eligible for Xfinity Internet Essentials, we absolutely think it’s worth it. The less-than-$15 price tag is one of the cheapest out there for low-income internet and is a great way to stay connected for a low cost, even with the winding down of the ACP.
Plus, Xfinity Internet Essentials not only provides affordable internet access, but also low-cost computers, free Wi-Fi hotspots, and free internet training to those who qualify. Click here to learn more and apply.
