Studio Trigger’s newest anime is a series called Delicious in Dungeon (Dungeon Meshi in the original Japanese) , which is based on the manga of the same name. It premiered on January 4, 2024. Season 2 is currently in production.
Studio Trigger is a pretty prolific anime studio, and you can find their previous anime across Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, and Crunchyroll. Their shows usually involve colorful characters in high-concept science fiction worlds, and are often aimed towards a more adult audience.
Jumping between a bunch of different platforms can be a pain, though. So whether you’re new to the studio’s work or already a Kill la Kill superfan, we’ve compiled a list of the platforms where you can find each of Studio Trigger’s projects.
Gurren Lagann
Okay, before you come for us, anime experts, we know Studio Trigger didn’t technically make this classic mecha anime. But Gainax, the studio that preceded Studio Trigger, did, so it was made by enough of the same staff for us to include it.
Gurren Lagann is about a group of futuristic resistance fighters who use the power of drills to do the impossible. See the invisible. Row row, fight the power, and all that.
Kill la Kill
Studio Trigger’s first original show, Kill la Kill, came out in 2013, and it both took cues from Gurren Lagann and set the tone for the studio’s subsequent works. To put it succinctly: brightly colored, slightly uncomfortable, and very, very weird.
Just a fair warning, this one has quite a bit of nudity.

Space Patrol Luluco
Like Kill la Kill before it, Space Patrol Luluco turns the concept of a magical girl transformation upside down. It’s one of Studio Trigger’s more comedy-focused titles, but it still has all the wacky science fiction elements that define the studio.
Kiznaiver
Kiznaiver is one of Trigger’s moodier titles. It follows the lives of seven teenagers participating in an unusual social experiment. It also does a bit of the “seven deadly sins” thing, for fans of Fullmetal Alchemist and Catholicism.
Little Witch Academia
The Little Witch Academia franchise made a big splash in the western world with a full series on Netflix in 2017, after two successful films in 2013 and 2015. This franchise is notable in Studio Trigger’s portfolio because it’s the title most suited for all ages. And it doesn’t get quite as edgy as, say, Kill la Kill or Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.
It’s also one of our personal favorites.
Darling in the Franxx
Darling in the Franxx is a more recent mecha title. (“Mecha” is a genre that encompasses the anime Neon Genesis Evangelion, the western film Pacific Rim, and the novel Iron Widow.) Big robots, bigger monsters—what more could you ask for?
SSSS.Gridman
Another story about mechs fighting giant monsters, Gridman is one of those rare franchises that Studio Trigger has returned to for a sequel. So once you’re done with SSSS.Gridman, be sure to catch SSSS.Dynazenon. Luckily, they’re both available on the same services.
Promare
Promare hit theaters in 2019, and finally made its way to Max (formerly HBO Max) in 2021. It’s a bold anime film that finally asks the question: “What if Gurren Lagann were about Italian firefighters?”
BNA: Brand New Animal
Trigger returned to Netflix in 2020 for BNA: Brand New Animal. 2020 was a different time. Everyone was locked in their houses, toilet paper was flying off the shelves, and furry anime was flooding Netflix. (Okay, maybe it was just this, Beastars, and Aggretsuko).
Star Wars: Visions
Star Wars: Visions is an anthology that Disney orchestrated in 2021. Much like Netflix’s Love, Death + Robots, each episode is animated by a different studio. Studio Trigger created the third episode of Star Wars: Visions, titled “The Twins.”
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners premiered on Netflix on September 13, 2022. It’s based on the Cyberpunk video and tabletop game franchise, and involves lots of action and explosions. An excellent choice for fans of Studio Trigger’s over-the-top style.
Gridman Universe
This movie is a sequel to both SSSS.Gridman and SSSS.Dynazenon. It premiered in Japanese theaters on March 24, 2023 and made its US debut at Anime Expo on July 3.
For the rest of the US, we’ll have to wait until the film formally releases on streaming and home video. It doesn’t have a proper release date yet, but stay tuned for more information on how to watch Gridman Universe!
Delicious in Dungeon
Delicious in Dungeon, or Dungeon Meshi in the original Japanese, is a fantasy manga series about a Dungeons & Dragons –esque party that runs low on food mid-adventure. Of course, part of being an adventurer is making use of the things around you, so they have to find ways to turn monster parts into delicious meals. Studio Trigger’s anime adaptation premiered on January 4, 2024, and has been renewed for a second season.
Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt
Okay, you caught us: Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt is another title made by Gainax, not Studio Trigger. But Trigger is in the process of making a second season of this raunchy adult comedy. The studio released a teaser in July 2023, but we don’t yet know when the project will be complete.
