Cut local channels, save money
DIRECTV is giving its customers the choice to opt out of receiving local TV stations’ feeds “for as long as they want,” and get a discount for doing so. Customers who choose cut these local channels will reduce their bills by $12 per month ($144 per year).
If you want local channels, we recommend getting a digital over-the-air antenna, which will get you all the local channels you need in most areas. - Ask to speak with DIRECTV’s customer retention department.

Four DIRECTV packages include Max (formerly HBO Max), but only one doesn’t charge you to keep the channel after the first year of service.
DIRECTV’s ENTERTAINMENT All Included package (and higher) include Max free for three months. After that, it auto-renews for $15.99 a month.
PREMIER All Included is DIRECTV’s most robust package—in terms of cost and number of channels (185+). Max is included in the $142.99/mo. package*, and there’s no upcharge for Max after the first year. You also get CINEMAX, Paramount+ with SHOWTIME, and STARZ with PREMIER.
