What to look for with DISH deals
Get ready to commit
Unlike most streaming services and no-contract cable providers, DISH typically requires a 24-month commitment to secure its best rates. While this guarantees your price won’t increase for two years, it also means you’ll have to pay early termination fees if you cancel before your contract ends. Make sure you’re ready to stick with satellite for at least two years before signing up.
You’ll need to upgrade for the best features
The best DISH deals often involve its higher-tier programming packages, like America’s Top 200 or Top 250. While these cost more, they usually unlock the best equipment upgrades and comprehensive sports coverage (like regional sports networks and the DISH Multi-Sport Pack). If you’re a heavy TV watcher or a dedicated sports fan, the higher monthly price can offer better value than the entry-level plans.
Keep an eye on your signal reliability
Satellite TV may be available anywhere you can view the southern sky, but it’s notoriously less reliable than cable or fiber TV. Since satellite TV can be affected by heavy weather, look for mentions of DISH’s Signal Protector technology when you sign up. This feature automatically switches your service from the satellite feed to an internet stream if your satellite dish loses its connection during a storm.

How do I negotiate a better deal on DISH?
You can call DISH customer retention (+1-866-974-0781, 8:00 p.m.–12 a.m. Eastern time) at the end of your contract to try to negotiate a better deal. What DISH offers depends on the representative, so be extra sweet to them when you call. DISH, however, does have a package that’s available only to existing customers—meaning you can switch to it after your original two-year contract runs out. The DISH Flex Pack ($72.99/mo.) has over 50 popular channels to start, and then you can customize it with a variety of add-ons.
What is the least expensive DISH package?
