CenturyLink has three fiber plans. The fastest, CenturyLink Fiber Gigabit, costs $75 a month and has download and upload speeds up to 940 Mbps. This is one of the cheapest fiber plans out there.
On the DSL side, CenturyLink charges $55 per month for up to 140 Mbps. That’s a fairly average price for internet, and 140 Mbps is a fast enough download speed for most families.

Even the slowest of these recommended CenturyLink plans has plenty of speed for streaming DIRECTV—but CenturyLink Fiber Internet 500 Mbps is the same price. You might as well get that if you’re in the provider’s fiber optic area.

Xfinity’s service area spans three U.S. regions: Northeast, Central, and West. In the Northeast, you can choose from up to 7 cable internet plans with 300–1200 Mbps speeds. The Central and West regions each have 6 plans with 150–1200 Mbps.
Plan prices range from super cheap ($19.99 monthly for 150 Mbps in the West) to competitive ($75.00 monthly for 1200 Mbps in the Northeast and West) and a bit high ($95.00 monthly for 1200 Mbps in Central).
Some providers—like Astound Broadband, Google Fiber, and Ziply—have faster connections (including fiber) for cheaper, but they can’t compete with Xfinity’s availability.
Recommended Xfinity internet plans
If you live in Xfinity’s West or Central region, the Connect plan is a fantastic deal, and it’ll support a good amount of DIRECTV streaming. However, Northeast- and West-region customers can get Connect More, which has double the speed (300 Mbps) at almost the same price.
