Wait, back up. Didn’t we just have an Emmy ceremony?
Good memory! The 75th Primetime Emmys took place back in January 2024. However, those awards were originally supposed to take place in 2023. The television industry was going through a rough time in 2023, to say the least (remember all those strikes?). While negotiations were still ongoing, writers and actors were forbidden from promoting their recent films or appearing at awards shows.
To prevent an embarrassingly empty room with no presenters, FOX decided to postpone the event until the strikes were over. Awards shows are starting to get back on track now, so this fall’s schedule looks a little more normal.
