We’ve dinged HBO Max in the past for being one of the pricier streaming services around. I, for one, don’t love dealing with its annual price increases as much as the next person, but HBO Max’s student discount helps ease some of the sticker shock.
With HBO Max’s student discount, you’ll get a 50% discount on the HBO Max Basic With Ads plan as long as you’re an enrolled student. This cuts HBO Max’s price down from $9.99 to $4.99 per month. But keep in mind that HBO Max doesn’t offer a student discount on its Ad Free or Ultimate Ad Free plans—you’ll have to pay full price if you want to watch HBO in 4K or without ads.
How to get HBO Max’s student discount
HBO Max issues its student discount through UNiDAYS, a free third-party service that manages student discounts for thousands of universities and community colleges. Once you register for a UNiDAYS account, they’ll verify your student enrollment status and issue a referral code that’ll get you a discounted HBO Max rate for 12 months. (As an elder millennial who still has some student discounts, enjoy the savings while you June grads still have them!)
Afterward, simply reverify your college enrollment status through UNiDAYS to resubscribe for another year of discounted HBO Max. Here’s what you’ll need to do to set up your UNiDAYS account:
1. Create a UNiDAYS account.
2. Verify your student enrollment status.
3. Go to UNiDAYS’ HBO Max page to generate a HBO Max student discount code.
